Spice Things Up: Toolroom Records Honey Dijon Release

Spice Things Up: Toolroom Records Honey Dijon ReleaseFor its latest release, Toolroom Records teams NYC’s DJ/producer/remixer Honey Dijon and classic house vocalist Dajae on the smash single Until The Day. With Honey Dijon hailing from Chicago and now based in New York, the styles of both of these influential cities are reflected in her original mix of Until The Day. The old school house of Chicago is accented with the deep underground vibes of the Big Apple that combined with inflections of Dajae’s soulful vocal make this an instant classic. On the remix front, Italy’s Alex Kenji, delivers a pumping edit that will get any main room rocking. Uner demonstrates his versatility as a producer with a re-rub inspired by the 909, while another of Italy’s finest; Aki Bergen provides the perfect after party alternative.

A native of the Windy City, Honey was first inspired by the legendary house sounds of such DJ pioneers as Ron Hardy, Derrick Carter, Mark Farina, and Frankie Knuckles. When she moved to New York, Honey became great friends with even more influential DJ’s, including the amazing Danny Tenaglia, who finally urged her to get behind the decks. Although she spins a distinct Chicago sound with inflections of the deep New York underground, Honey prides herself on a style that is all her own. In fact, Honey is one of the few DJ’s in recent years to defy pigeon-holing. She draws from a wide repertoire of musical styles; from old school Chicago house, disco, tech-house, tribal, funk, soul, and R&B.

Honey is entering one of the most prolific times in her career as a DJ, producer and remixer. In addition to the release of Until The Day, Honey recently remixed Casey Spooner’s Faye Dunayway and is also planning remixes for Jessica 6 and DJ Chus, plus a brand new original track for Toolroom entitled The Mix Up. As a DJ, Honey holds two weekly residencies in New York City – Friday’s “Clubber Down Disco” (expect to hear Salsoul, Prelude, and West End disco alongside house classics) at the legendary Chelsea Hotel and Sunday’s Haus at Cielo (deep to tech house, minimal, tribal, boompty, vocals as well as soulful house classics).

Honey Dijon is also big into fashion and recent gigs for such clients as Visionare, Hermes, Chloe, The CFDA Awards, Loewe, Narciso Rodriguez and other global taste-makers are making her one of the most sought after DJ’s for top fashion calendar events. Honey Dijon featuring Dajae Until The Day features remixes from Alex Kenji, Uner and Aki Bergen… You can listen to all the tracks here.
