Making Golf A Better Game with Mike Fay aka Big Wheel

I first met Mike on Twitter. I’ve never met him in real life… only online. But that’s okay, because we have been able to build a great relationship 140 characters at a time. As a matter of fact, when I first started doing these PGA teaching professional interviews, he showed interest. I didn’t know much about him until we sat down for the interview. Boy does this guy have a well rounded toolkit. The guy is a great player, an incredible coach, and even runs a Twitter [...]

2011 DJ Mag Top 100 DJ Application

While I was in Arizona last week, on vacation, I was reading an issue of DJ Mag on my iPad. They were advertising their iPhone and iPod app. The ad didn’t mention the iPad. Since I was already using my iPad I went to the app store to see. Sure enough, they had an iPad version. The app is free, so I downloaded it. I didn’t have high expectations [...]

Artist Interview: 1-on-1 with Item 9 & the Mad Hatters

My friend Kayla Chaffee introduced me to this band. A few months ago I saw that she was booking shows at The Elbo Room up in Chicago, Illinois. Talk about a cool job… I love that space, and they get some big bands through there. It’s sort of like the Birdy’s Bar & Grill of Chicago. Anyway, I approached her with an idea. Since she was booking bands, and I like interviewing bands here on the blog, why not work together? She liked the idea, and the first band [...]

LAVO Italian Restaurant: December 2011

Tiësto’s career is all about firsts. He was the first DJ to play live on stage at the Summer Olympics, and was the first DJ to achieve consecutive #1 spots on DJ Mag’s Top 100. He was also the first DJ to ever headline a stadium concert and the first DJ to headline Coachella. His legendary career has touched three decades now as one of the all-time greats in electronic dance music. 2011 has been a bustling year for the Dutch maestro: January saw him [...]
