With their hyped new album “Wonky” about to drop, British electronic music pioneers Orbital are releasing the single New France plus remixes.
Featuring the mesmerizing vocal of L.A goth-soulstress Zola Jesus, New France is a brooding and atmospheric track of epic proportions. As Paul explains, “We came across Zola Jesus, who I’d never heard before but instantly fell in love with – she’s just got the perfect voice for this track. It ended up a poppy goth track, in the vein of Propaganda, which for me is a kind of Holy Grail in terms of all the music that ever really influenced me”.
Remixes come from electro-bass producer James Connelly aka L-Vis1990 (who has worked with the likes of Laidback Luke, Diplo, Riton and Primary 1 as well as co-founding Night Slugs), The Hydraulic Dogs (responsible for the Club Chart No.1 banger Shake It For Me) and DJ/artist/producer nonpareil Tom Middleton who gives it the progressive house treatment under his Cosmos guise.
Orbital celebrated the BBC6 Music 10th anniversary with a special live session for Lauren Laverne at Maida Vale on March 16th.They headline four UK festivals (Secret Garden Party, Bestival, Bloc, Beat Herder) this summer and tour the UK in April. “Wonky” will be released in April.
