Diplo/Skrillex/A-Trak Start YouTube Network POTATO

Globally acclaimed names Diplo, Skrillex, and A-Trak have partnered with Iconic TV to create POTATO, a web-based music network on YouTube that aims to bring back the spirit of early music television for the digital and mobile era. Recognizing that there is a parallel between today’s YouTube explosion and the early days of cable TV, the trio developed a music outlet that echoes MTV’s initial mission statement, “You’ll never look at music the same way again.” The channel launched on YouTube this weekend.

The programming will give voice and vision to the immensely diverse and ever-growing field of music, recognizing that there no longer is a divide between musician and fan.

POTATO is a joint venture with management companies TMWRK and Blood Company and Iconic TV, which is run by Larry Aidem (a founder and CEO of the Sundance Channel) and Michael Hirschorn (CEO of Ish Entertainment and former head of programming for VH1).  The channel’s general manager is Hallie Harris, a former music manager and music publishing executive. The Director of Programming is Mike Ostolaza, who was an integral part of developing MTV Clubland. Its creative director is the photographer & video director Shane McCauley.
