Royal Flush: Popular Songs About Poker

On Monday night we had dinner with some friends from Indiana, and we started talking about poker. I actually first met Wong, Sheryl’s friend, during a crazy game of poker. I didn’t want to play that night, if I remember correctly, but showed up, played well, and took all their money! Yes, Wong still holds that against me. Anyway, dinner was fun, and it appears Wong may have his own game of poker while he is visiting. I promise, I will let him win if we play!

As I am sitting here thinking about poker, I am listening to the new O.A.R. album. Remember them? They are still out there producing and touring. One of their biggest hits was about poker! It’s called “That Was a Crazy Game of Poker”, and appeared on their album The Wanderer. That got me thinking… what other popular songs are about poker? Well, I found 10! They are listed below.

Five Card Stud

“The Gambler” might be the most famous song about poker, but O.A.R. isn’t far behind. I also didn’t realize Ray Charles was a gambler! He has several songs about poker, and I decided to list him twice. Those are some pretty good odds. Just remember, don’t count your money while sitting at the table. You’ll have plenty of time for counting when the dealing is done!
