Let’s Get Dirty: Dirty Tequila Tasting & Recipes

Have you ever tried Dirty Tequila? Dirty Tequila is a cinnamon and pineapple infused tequila that just hit the market. If you have had Fireball, a cinnamon whiskey, this is the answer for tequila drinkers. The stuff is insanely good, and is dangerously drinkable. It’s 36% alcohol by volume (72 proof), but drinks like a wine cooler. On the rocks or neat, this is one of my new favorite cocktails.

Last week I was walking around Total Wine & More and they had a Dirty Tequila tasting setup. I walked by, took a shot, and she asked if I wanted to try the Dirty Juice. I had never mixed it with anything, so I asked her what was in it. Basically it’s Dirty Tequila, pineapple juice, and a splash of Sprite. If you think the stuff is too harsh by itself, this is a great mixer. We started talking and she handed me a card with recipes on it. Some of these sound incredible!

Dirty Juice
1.5oz Dirty Tequila
3.5oz pineapple juice
Splash of Sprite

Dirty Rita
1.5oz Dirty Tequila
.75oz Triple Sec
3.5oz margarita mix
Shake over ice

Dirty Apples
2oz Dirty Tequila
2oz Apple Pucker
Cranberry juice to taste

Dirty Dreams
1.25oz Dirty Tequila
.75oz Butterscotch Schnapps
2 count chocolate syrup
1 count caramel sauce
Shake over ice
Add whipped cream

The Dirty Dreams sounds amazing!!! That’s a lot of work, but it sounds delicious. Until meeting this lady at Total Wine, I didn’t even know what to mix it with. Fireball was the same way for a long time. Now, if I don’t just want ice cold shots, I will mix it with Dr. Pepper.

Let’s Get Dirty

According to the brochure she handed me, Dirty Tequila begins with silver tequila that is sweetened with agave nectar, cinnamon, and pineapple. They toss in some other fruit flavors to produce this smooth and delicious infused tequila. Not sure what other fruit juices they use, but I am sure they use them sparingly.

Dirty Tequila Promo Reel

Like I said, this stuff is dangerously good. Places I have seen it around the Valley include The Dirty Dogg Saloon and Greasewood Flat, two of the best biker bars in the area. I can see bikers drinking this stuff like water. If you haven’t tried this stuff, get your hands on a shot. Sip and savor every last drop of this dirty goodness. If you have a favorite recipe, please share it in the comments section below. Cheers!
