Artist Interview: 1-on-1 with Jason Ross

Artist Interview: 1-on-1 with Jason Ross

A few weeks ago Jason Ross hosted a guest mix on Group Therapy. Since then I haven’t been able to stop listening to him. He has already released a few singles this year including “Atlas,” “Solaris” and “Ravenna.” But it was really cool hearing him on Group Therapy. I felt like I had discovered a new sound for my summer.

Since then I have connected with him on Twitter and got the chance to learn more about his work, his inspiration and what his future looks like. He’s young and has a lot of potential. I also got the chance to interview him recently. Without further adieu, it is my pleasure to introduce you to Jason Ross.

You recently hosted a guest mix on Group Therapy. Tell me about that. That radio show reaches over 25 million people worldwide.
Yeah, it was such an honor! I’ve been listening to their radio show for quite a while now, and I always look forward to hearing the guest mixes. It definitely put my mixing skills to the test, but I’m very happy with how it turned out!

Tell me more about your relationship with Jenaux.
I met Eugene (aka Jenaux) a few years ago when I played a show in New York City. We hit it off and talked production almost every day, always learning from each other. When he came to Los Angeles in January, I booked out a studio and we just started jamming out. That was when our track “Solaris’ began.

There are a lot of options out there when it comes to headphones. What do you use?
I use the Beyerdynamic DT770 PRO headphones. They have the best sound quality I’ve come across, and they’re extremely comfortable, which is always a plus!

I saw a video of Above & Beyond playing “Atlas” at EDC. Were you there to see that?
Unfortunately, I wasn’t! I got loads of fan videos tweeted at me as it was happening, so it was almost like I was there. Although, I was at The Forum in LA when Above & Beyond played it, which I think was just as amazing.

Tell me more about your experience working with Anjunabeats.
It’s been an incredible experience so far! The Anjunabeats team is top notch, and all very passionate about what they do.

You are all over Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. What is your favorite social media network and why?
My favorite is Twitter. It’s great and easy to speak your mind and connect with fans!

Above & Beyond debuted “Ravenna” at their sold-out show at the Brixton Academy. Are you planning to do more with those guys in 2015.
Big things in store! Nothing that I can share just yet, but very excited for things to come.

Las Vegas has become a center for dance music in the United States. What are some of your favorite clubs in Sin City?
I loved Marquee when it first opened up, but now there’s Omnia and Hakkasan, which I still have yet to see. Other than that, XS is always a great time!

What’s next for Jason Ross?
More quality music, and hitting select spots around the U.S. and Canada!

In all of the interview I do I always give the artist the last word. Go.
It excites me the most to say this is just the beginning. Thanks to all the fans, there’s much more to come…
