Freshen Your Routine With QuikTrip: Maple Bac’n QuikShake

On Monday I stopped at QuikTrip for gas on my way home from work. As I was filling up I saw an ad for a maple bacon QuikShake. No way that this was on my diet… But I was intrigued. I reached out to QuikTrip via Twitter and asked how many calories were in the thing. They responded in a matter of minutes. Apparently there are 997 calories in this thing. Like I said… NOT on my diet! I fired back asking if they could do a smaller size or a sample of the QuikShake. Then I got a DM… They went above and beyond sending me a coupon for a complimentary QuikShake.

That night I went to the gym and spent 2 hours burning calories to make room for it. I limited myself to 5 bites, and it was everything I hoped it would be. I have had maple bacon beer from Rogue Ales & Spirits before. I’ve had maple bacon doughnuts from Voodoo Doughnut before. Heck, I’ve even had maple bacon vodka, also from Rogue. A maple bacon QuikShake wasn’t all that weird in the end.

When I ordered the shake I didn’t know what to expect. The guy in the QT Kitchen pulled out some fresh bacon and grilled it right there in front of me. The smell was intoxicating. Then he pulled out some fresh maple syrup and started blending it with vanilla ice cream. When he was done he asked me if I wanted whipped cream. No… There are already too many calories in this thing. I immediately wanted to take a sip, but waited until I got home to share it with Sheryl.

The flavor in this thing is off the charts. You can really taste the maple and the bacon, and the finish is delicious. Maybe the best maple bacon combination I’ve had to date. This shake is available for a limited time, and I would recommend you trying one… But share it. It is a bit too sweet to drink a full one by yourself.

To the team at QuikTrip, thank you for giving me unimaginable customer service and confirming why I choose QT time and time again for my fuel, soft drinks and snacks. I just hope this blog post helps show my gratitude for their customer service. Cheers!
