Samuel Smith’s Old Brewery Organic Apricot: Product of England

I am obsessed with Untappd badges, and tonight, on my way home from work, I stopped by Whole Foods Market to unlock a badge. Founders Brewing Co. is sponsoring a badge called Founders Feel The Taste and I knew I would be able to unlock it at Whole Foods. The badge says, “What happens when you take some of your favorite Founders beers and infuse nitrogen? You get a creamier mouthfeel that feels like a soft belly rub for your tastebuds. Use the Founders mobile app to find them on draft near you and share how you #FeelTheTaste.” They didn’t have any of these beers on tap, but they had in a bottle. You can unlock this badge with the Nitro Rubaeus, Nitro Pale Ale, or Nitro Oatmeal Stout and I knew they would have Rubaeus in bottles. I digress.

While I was there I bought a few more bottles of beer. I grabbed a bottle of the Samuel Smith’s Organic Apricot and a bottle of their Organic Cheery. I got home, the sun was still up, and I decided to sit on the patio to enjoy my beer. Then I read the label, and wanted to share what it said here with you. Cheers!

Handcrafted at Melbourn Bros’ tiny brewery set in a time warp in Stamford using the old manually operated brewing equipment. Finest organically grown barley and wear are used to create a complex ale which, having undergone primary and secondary fermentation with different yeasts and extended maturation, is taken to Samuel Smith’s small, independent British brewery at Tadcaster. There it is bended with pure organic apricot fruit juice and a previously cellared organic brew – creating an unparalleled fruit ale. The smooth distinctive character of the matured ale serves as the perfect counterpoint to the pure organic fruit juice.

I don’t know what inspired me to read the text, let alone share it with you here on my blog, but I am glad I did. Thanks for reading. Cheers!
