Tiger's Mega Yacht: "Privacy"

Tiger’s Mega Yacht: “Privacy”

While I don’t think it’s any of our business, Tiger Woods has been in the news a lot lately. Yes, Tiger is a celebrity, I get that. But that doesn’t mean we need to beat a dead horse over his arrest. Tiger wants and deserves privacy during this trying time of his life. That is a good segue to what I wanted to talk about today.

In 2004, Tiger bought a wedding gift for his now ex-wife. It was a nice gift… It was a mega yacht that he bought from Christensen Shipyards for $20 million. Tiger named the boat “Privacy”and has been spotted on the vessel many times since. The boat is docked in Old Port Cove, Florida and Tiger uses it for a little peace and quiet when he wants to escape from the media. Chances are good he’s on that boat right now waiting for thing to calm down.

When Tiger and Elin got divorced, the Big Cat offered the yacht as a part of the settlement. Nordegren declined due to the cost of upkeep. The running cost of “Privacy” is $2 million annually. Think about that for a second… $2 million just to own the boat! That is an expensive wedding present. Of course, their divorce settlement was $100 million. So the yacht is just a small piece of the pie.

I recently read an article about the boat and it shared some interesting facts about the ship:

  • Fluid capacities 12,000 gallons of fuel, 2,000 gallons of water
  • 3 Sea-Doos, 2 ocean kayaks and 2 Vespa scooters on board
  • Large bar on deck
  • 8 person Jacuzzi
  • Station to fill scuba tanks and an inflatable decompression chamber
  • Cherry woodwork interior
  • Workout room with a treadmill, exercise bike and free weights
  • A staircase and an elevator

I mean, look at the thing… That is an impressive vessel. Tiger, I don’t have $2 million, but if you ever need someone to keep you company, I am available. Just let me know… It should only take me 2 hours to get there!

Anyway, I just wanted to share some interesting facts about the boat. I hope Tiger is resting and is putting this DUI stuff behind him. I am still confident he will win more tournaments, including major championships, and look forward to what’s next. Tiger named his boat “Privacy” for a reason. Let’s give him some and wish him well.
