When I was first introduced to him, I wasn’t familiar with his work. Then I heard his hit single “True Love” and I can’t stop listening to him. He writes all of his own stuff, and is gaining momentum opening for guys like Clint Black, Gary Allan, and the Eli Young Band. Oh, and this guy plays golf. It just gets better.

When Wake Your Mind first came out, it was all I could listen to. The album is just filled with incredible dance tracks. They a few remixes start popping up, and they went on the road to support the new release. A few weeks ago, when a deluxe edition came out, I took a trip down memory lane dancing in my chair to tracks like “Be Your Sound” featuring the sensational Emma Hewitt, “Flying Blind” featuring my buddy JES, and the title track “Wake Your Mind” featuring the vocals of the one and only Cary Brothers.

His name is Jeff, but he goes by Loud Flavor. I feel bad, too. I have been sitting on this interview for months. He was VERY excited to be a part of the blog, and we did the interview without delay… then we needed some photos. FINALLY we got them, and I am able to post the interview. He has been patient, and I appreciate that. While he has been waiting, he has been busy in the studio and has released a remix of the Dimiti Vegas, Moguai and Like Mike smash hit “Mammoth”.

The Phoenix Film Festival is wrapping up, and last night I went to see two movies. First, I saw Putzel, a comedy about a down on his luck Jewish man living in the Upper West Side of New York City struggling to sell lox. Putzel features Jack Carpenter, John Pankow, and Melanie Lynskey. You might know Melanie from the hit TV show Two And A Half Men. She plays Rose. Then I went to see Favor, a somewhat disturbing drama about two guys, burying a body, and how that changes things.

I wouldn’t call the music weird, but it is definitely different. The focus of his work is not the sound, but the lyrics, and that is obvious when you listen to him play. His album Poison Packets is available on Spotify, and I want you to listen to it. Pay no attention to the genre, because I am not sure I can tell you the genre. But listen to the lyrics. Hear and feel what he felt when he wrote these songs. “Bonfire Blues” and “Mexico” are a great way to start things off, and then tracks like “Whiskey Eggs” and “Murrey Knows” help you truly understand who this man is.

My buddy Jeff went to Full Sail University and is the owner of DIME Agency. He is always sending me new talent to listen to, and I enjoy chatting with him when we have the chance. A few weeks ago, he sent me a guy I wasn’t familiar with. When I saw he had appeared on American Idol, I knew he was the real deal. Then I started listening to him, and couldn’t figure out what impressed me more… his voice or his songwriting.

He has been associated with names like Cypress Hill and the Soul Assassins and has produced some of the biggest tracks of my generation. He has his fingerprints on tracks like “Check Yo Self” from Ice Cube, the House of Pain hit “Jump Around”, and the unforgettable “Insane in the Brain” from Cypress Hill. Now he is working with Ultra Music and is releasing his own artist album. The album is called Bass For Your Face, and he will also be touring this summer in support of the new release. If you like bass, then this album is for you.
