Couldn’t tell you where I found these guys, but I am glad I did. When I first heard about this band, I was immediately impressed, and just knew I had to learn more about their music. I schedule an interview and didn’t stop listening to their tunes for days on end. Then Alan Johnson emailed me and asked if I wanted to conduct the interview at his studio. Alan owns Static Shack Studios here in Indianapolis, and it proved to be the perfect setting for an interview [...]

The other night, after leaving a meeting, I swung by 21st Amendment Wine & Spirits. I usually shop at Crown Liquors, but this was on my way home so I figured I would give them a try. I walked in, and remembered they had a beer cave, which is a nice change for your average liquor store. I ended up buying a six-pack of beer. While checking out, the cashier asked me if I had a Smart Shopper’s Card. I had no idea what she was talking about. She rang my [...]

Not sure why, but I love country music. Maybe it’s because I am from a small town. Or maybe it’s because I have found an appreciation for the lyrics that are pumped out of Nashville. (Well, I say Nashville, as that’s the stereotypical place that produces the best in country tunes.) I enjoy guys that have that twang in their voice, producing a sound that is raw, authentic, and just sounds country. There are only a few guys out there that have it… the guy I am sitting with is one [...]

It’s hard to play a lot of golf living in the Hoosier state. If it’s not snowing it’s raining, windy, cold… you get the picture. So how cool would it be to have an indoor facility to work on your game when the weather outside doesn’t always cooperate? Well that place is here! I actually used to work over at Riverside Golf Academy, but this place is closer to where I live and closer to my office. When you first walk in Golf 365, you are simply impressed by the size. On the right [...]

The big beautiful Broadway blockbuster Hairspray, on stage now at Beef & Boards Dinner Theatre, is a show that requires equally big and beautiful hair! A lot of it. Wig designer Dan Benslay of Indianapolis has been eager to start creating fun styles for this show for quite a while. “I planned it out for a year in my head – what I wanted it to look like,” Benslay, affectionately known as “Hairdo Dan,” said, adding there are 46 wigs used throughout the musical. “This is one [...]

My buddy Russ first introduced me to these guys. He said that he did a lot of work with them, and suggested I check them out. They are a cover band, so I figured they were just like all the other cover bands here in Indy. (Oh yeah, by the way, I LOVE all of the cover bands here in Indy. Each one of them have their own unique style, and they are always guaranteed to bring a full house and get you on your feet. So for the record, I love cover bands.) I looked them up, checked [...]

The show was an absolute blast. I had several people communicating with me throughout the evening on Facebook and Twitter, and everyone wanted to see my reaction. I am not typically that interested in musicals, and all my friends know that. But after spending an evening at Beef & Boards, I might be changing my tune here, before too long. The actors were great, the storyline was fantastic, and the setting was irreplaceable. Who knew that [...]

A few months ago, I was walking through a Crown Liquors when a six-pack of beer caught my eye. I looked at it, and it said “Clay County Coffee Stout.” That’s not right, they don’t make beer in Clay County. I am FROM Clay County. I was born in Terre Haute, Indiana but I grew up in Harmony. I went to school and worked (until I moved away to go to college), in Brazil. Sure enough this beer was from Brazil, Indiana. They currently have three different beers to [...]

Boy, do I love a good beer. Since I turned 21 years old, I have been trying to find the perfect brew. It’s not possible, as there are millions of options out there. Sure, I have a favorite style… but there is no way to pick a favorite beer. I like darker beers, the stouts and the porters. I also like the red, the cream ales, and the fruity stuff. I pretty much like all beers. Rarely do I drink the same beer twice. When I go to the liquor store, assuming I have the budget to buy [...]

Whether I find it myself, or someone else shoves it in my face, I love discovering new music. I can’t get enough of hearing a band for the first time. I remember back in the day (like it was so long ago) when I first heard the band Anberlin. They became one of my favorite bands immediately. Or when I first heard a song by my favorite band of all time, Eve 6. Those guys are still around, and look for an interview right here on rickyleepotts.com in the next few months. But [...]
