I don’t watch football, but I know the name Junior Seau. He was big when I was in high school and college, and I remember hearing his name on TV. I used to watch sports, when I was in school, but the older I get the less I care about professional sports. I watch golf, and that is about it. I also have a theory that all professional sports are rigged. Anyway, I know this is old news but Junior Seau was found dead yesterday in his California home. Further details point to suicide.

Gartner adds, “When Tiësto brought up the idea of collaboration I was thrilled and I think We Own The Night is destined to be a classic. We were already happy with the musical part, but something special happened when Luciana came into the project and put her vocal touch on it. The only way I can describe it is… magic. I can honestly say this song is my favorite of all the collaborations I’ve ever done.”

The other night, I sat down to watch Rango. Five minutes in, and I was bored. We turned it off and started watching The IT Crowd. It is a great show, if you understand that humor. Anyway, I started posting about it on Twitter, and my friend Kyle Brooks said he had seen it. I asked if he would be interested in writing a guest blog post for me. I asked him to review the movie. I haven’t seen more than five minutes of this movie, but I wanted his take on it. I respect his opinion on TV shows and movies, so I knew he would give it a fair review. According to his Twitter page, Kyle is, “I’m the Crazy Halien of Indianapolis who’s still waiting to take @HaleyReinhart out on that guacamole date.”

A couple of months ago, I went down to Bloomington to see Fitz and The Tantrums with my buddy Braden. It was a free show at The Bluebird, and I was stoked to see them perform. When we got there, I saw a poster for Dot Dot Dot, a cover band that I have heard a lot of great things about. They were there later that week. I had never seen them, but knew they put on a good show. We got in, grabbed a drink, and found a place to stand. Sure enough Dot Dot Dot was opening up for Fitz and The Tantrums! I couldn’t believe it.

I am learning as I go through this thing too. For instance, I had no idea who built the Twin Towers. It was designed by Minoru Yamasaki in the early 1960s. They broke ground on August 5, 1966 with the North Tower being completed in December of 1972 and the South Tower wrapping up in July of 1973. They were the tallest buildings in the world at the time. I also didn’t know about the “bathtub” they had to build when building the two towers. According to the app:

“Wavesight” also features a collaboration with Nasimiyu, a singer songwriter based out of New Orleans, on the track Turn The Lights Off. Her original music is a mix of rootsy folk, funk, and forward-looking contemporary soul, influenced by her own travels and experiences as well as the musical heritage of New Orleans. “Wavesight” is merely a taste of what Paper Diamond has in store. You can expect a slew of new music releases, collaborations, videos, and tour dates in the near future.

A few weeks ago, these guys followed me on Twitter. I sent them a reply, and we started talking about music, the Windy City, and their awesome sound. I had no idea they were coming to Indy for a show… then I agreed to live blog Indy Meets Windy 2, a showcase of Indianapolis and Chicago bands here in the Circle City. It is actually a great concept, featuring two bands from Chicago. Once these bands play down here, the Indy bands head to Chicago for a show.

This 1001 Bottles project has been fun, and I am learning a ton about beer. From where beers are made to the ingredients they use, beer is a very complex beverage and one that as I expand my palate am getting more and more obsessed with. I am actually starting to fall in love with breweries, not just the styles. For example, Founders Brewing Company. They make a wide range of beers, and they are ALL amazing. Another brewery that I am really getting excited about is the Victory Brewing Company.

A few weeks ago, I was just surfing the web and I found the worst website in the world. I’m serious, this website has won awards for being the worst website out there. Just spend a few minutes on the site, and you will see what I mean. It is so bad, it’s good. I liked it so much, I started to research the company and eventually found myself in the live chat. Before I knew it, I was chatting with Ling Valentine. Ling is a Chinese immigrant living in the UK and from the looks of it, she is doing well. On her Twitter page, she says, “I speak Chinglish, own the “BEST” website in the world. I’m real, reply and bite. Cars etc.” From emails with Ling, that pretty much sums it up. I’m glad I found the site, and I am stoked to introduce you to Ling Valentine, boss of LINGsCARS.com.
