Welcome To Holland: The Holland Account

I don’t even know where to begin… these guys are one of the hardest working bands in the Circle City. I have known Nick, the lead singer, for a few years now, and never thought to work with them until the last rickyleepotts.com presents six bands for six bucks. It just made sense. So I offered them a spot. They ended up playing last, and played for nearly 100 fans. That’s hard to do in this city, especially after midnight. But they promoted the show and they made me proud. That, and they are really nice people! Anyway, I liked them so much, I just had to learn more. I asked Nick if he would be able and willing to sit for an interview, and here we are. Another thing I like about these guys… they are rock. I am not talking about that pop crap you head on the radio. I am talking straight up rock and roll music. They are even doing work with Brad Real, a local rap artist. It is my pleasure to introduce you to The Holland Account. Welcome to Holland!

Thomas Gold Sing2Me on Axwell’s Axtone Records

The last 12 months has seen Thomas’ star rise high as DJ, producer & remixer. Royalty in the Flesh: GBOY MostRequested

I don’t listen to a lot of rap, but when I meet guys like this… I can’t help but listen. This guy come from the Windy City, and really has a grasp on what it takes to build a polished personal brand. I don’t really understand the meaning behind his name… but we will get to that. He has a new single called I’m Blowin Up, and while he isn’t actually blowing up in the song, the tune carries a solid beat with some professional lyrics that demand attention.

New Holland Brewing Company at The Beer Sellar

Are you familiar with 1001 Bottles? It’s a project that Sheryl and I started, and we are drinking 1001 bottles of beer… on purpose! It’s an excuse to drink, if nothing else. Anyway, one of the sponsors of the project is The Beer Sellar, and we actually drink from there most Monday nights. We are there at 9:00 PM each Monday (barring any other prior engagements). While there we drink a beer, throw back a few pints, and just chat with friends who want to drink with us. (Pints are on special for $3 on Monday nights.)

Artist Interview: Brent James & The Contraband

Earlier this year, I was working a show at the Old National Centre. It was in the Egyptian Room, and the opening act was Brent James & The Contraband. I didn’t know why, but I knew I had heard that name before. When they came out on stage, it came to me… I was friends with Brent on Facebook! I took some photos of the band, and sent him a message on Facebook. Before too long, we were chatting and we scheduled an interview.

Hot Dog Stuffed Crust Pizza with Mustard Drizzle

Don’t get me wrong, this pizza looks delicious. I love pizza, and Pizza Hut has some of the best crust out there. Of course, it’s the butter that the pizza swims in that makes the pizza so good… but you get my point. They have introduced a hot dog stuffed crust pizza. The pizza is currently only available in the UK, but depending on how well it sells over there it will soon be appearing at a Pizza Hut near you. Oh, and it comes with a side of mustard drizzle. Bon Appétit!
