Express Your Game with Jeff Ritter Golf

Jeff Ritter is one of the most polished teaching professionals I know. The guy is involved in everything from Facebook and Twitter to YouTube and YOUKU. He is also a walking talking brand and everything from the clothes he has on to the pictures on his website showcase that. I have known Jeff for a few years now, and am excited to visit him at The Raven Golf Club the next time I am in Phoenix.

Quality Instruction For All with Rob McGill

Quality Instruction For All with Rob McGill

These PGA professional interviews are so much fun for me. There is just so much talent out there, and it’s an honor for me to meet and work with these guys. I actually met this guy in January down at the PGA Merchandise Show. I had been connected with him on Twitter for a long time, but had no idea what he looked like. When we met, it was like we had known each other for years. We have since stayed in close contact, and I love what he is doing at Stones River [...]

Health Benefits of Beer

Beer… man I love beer. From drinking a Bud Light to sipping on a B.O.R.I.S., I love it. (You can thank Jake Long for introducing me to B.O.R.I.S. We had it at his place for the first time… and I have a bottle in my fridge right now!) I have also brewed a few batches of beer (two to be exact) and the process, while long and tedious, is fun. It’s just neat to see how much work goes into making a 5-gallon batch when even good beer, that takes time to perfect, is so readily [...]

Hearthstone Coffee House & Pub Menu

Hearthstone Coffee House & Pub just opened up here in Fishers, Indiana. The idea is simple… coffee, beer, food, and supporting the local community. This place has a solid foundation, and money isn’t their incentive. I have heard the general manager say, “We aren’t in this to make money.” Of course making money would be nice… but they have bigger goals here. To prove that, they are donating 10 cents from every drink to charity. That adds up fast, so drink [...]

Total Wines Top 20 Wines of 2011

When we got to BevMo, they were closed. Duh… it’s a holiday. Why would they be open on Thanksgiving? But wait… what’s that… a Total Wine across the street. They were open! Total Wine is similar to BevMo. Their prices are about the same, too. They were open, so we headed over there to shop around. While walking around the store, I saw a Top 20 Wines of 2011 list. I picked one up, and starting flipping through it. Total Wine carries all of the wines listed [...]

Matthew Landan – Barista, Bar Owner, Comic Book Reader, & World Traveler

As most of you know, we love to travel. We are always going somewhere, whether it’s just for the weekend or on a longer vacation to some remote island somewhere. We love traveling, seeing the world, and experiencing different cultures. One of those trips we recently made was to Louisville, Kentucky. It’s not far, maybe two hours from our place, and offered us a nice getaway before winter. While we were there, we danced in some clubs, sipped craft brew at some [...]

Taste The Wine: Chateau Thomas Winery

Speaking of the grapes, these grapes are not from Indiana. You would think that a winery in Indiana would in fact use grapes grown in Indiana… but that’s not the case here. They use grapes grown in California, Oregon, and in Washington vineyards. Dr. Thomas believes in combining modern science and technology of oenology with the old world methods of winemaking. Over 400 medals prove this method to be quite true The winery is located off interstate 70 West [...]

Tips to Ordering Wine in a Restaurant

This is how I like to order wine. You let the server come over, show you the label, and open the bottle at your table. If the server is good, the cork will be left on the table for your inspection. I actually save corks, so it’s nice when the cork is left on the table. If it is not left, I will request it be delivered after the first glass has been poured. Sometimes the server will even offer the cork for you to smell. If he or she does, do. Smell the cork. (Did you know the smell [...]

Sights of Thunder: Thunder Over Louisville

We rarely stay in nice hotels. That’s actually on purpose. When we travel, we don’t go somewhere to stay in our hotel. We like to get out and explore. Because of this, we usually stay at smaller more economical hotels. For this trip to Kentucky, that’s exactly what we did. We stayed at an Econo Lodge. The room ended up being pretty nice, and was located within walking distance from everything. Literally two blocks over was 4th Street Live. But I’ll get to that [...]

21st Amendment WineISIT Customer Card

The other night, after leaving a meeting, I swung by 21st Amendment Wine & Spirits. I usually shop at Crown Liquors, but this was on my way home so I figured I would give them a try. I walked in, and remembered they had a beer cave, which is a nice change for your average liquor store. I ended up buying a six-pack of beer. While checking out, the cashier asked me if I had a Smart Shopper’s Card. I had no idea what she was talking about. She rang my [...]
