The PGA TOUR has a great brand, and they do a lot to protect that brand online. They have a team of people that manage their website, their official Twitter, Facebook, and Google+ pages and spend countless hours posting new content, updating leaderboards, and replying to fans regarding tour stops, player developments, the rules of golf, and more. One feature I am obsessed with are their Google+ Hangouts. They do these every week, stream them live to their YouTube channel, and often feature TOUR players. Today they featured Lee Westwood. He is in Arizona this week for the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship. The event takes place at The Golf Club at Dove Mountain in Marana, Arizona. If Tiger is still playing on Saturday, I might head down there and watch. I haven’t seen Tiger compete in a few years.
For today’s Hangout, I actually joined Amanda Balionis, D.J. Piehowski, and Lee Westwood. It was fun meeting everyone, chatting with Lee before we went live, and asking him questions about life on the road, being #1, and if he could imagine a life without golf. I have actually been emailing D.J. for a few weeks about getting him involved with my golf community on Google+. It was fun finally meeting him, and I will be featuring him on a golf community Friday Foursome Google+ Hangout in the coming weeks.
I got the chance to ask Lee three questions during the Hangout. The entire Hangout is below. I hope Lee plays well this week, but since Tiger is in the field, I have to root for him! Should be a fun week of golf, regardless. Enjoy!
