Arnold Palmer Invitational: Tiger Wins Again

Arnold Palmer Invitational: Tiger Wins Again

Crazy, right? Anyway, I am glad to see Tiger playing well. Better yet, I am glad to see Tiger putting well. That has been something he has been struggling with, and if he is putting like that, he will win several more times this year. He needs to win at least one major this year, as he tries to catch Jack Nicklaus. But I am not worried about that, I am just worried about his win today. Way to go, Tiger. Feels good to have you at the top!

Snoop Dogg Reincarnated: Becomes Snoop Lion

Snoop Dogg Reincarnated: Becomes Snoop Lion

Today must be a slow news day, because the headline on Yahoo! News right now is Snoop Dogg changing his name to Snoop Lion. I wonder if Apple will sue him for stealing their thunder. OS X Mountain Lion, a new operating system, was released last week. I am sure the two are totally unrelated, but still. Snoop is actually saying he was “born again” on a recent trip to Jamaica. The trip must have been pretty great, because not only did he change his name but he is also working on a new album. The album, aptly titled “Reincarnated”, is due out this fall.

Nothing gets people together like Spreecast.

Nothing gets people together like Spreecast.

Until today, I had no idea what Spreecast is. My buddy Drew Larison was posting about it on Twitter, so I clicked to see what it was. Apparently he has his own channel and every Monday he hosts a discussion about the state of social media. The title of his series is called The State of Social Media and he talks about news stories that he found interesting throughout the week relating to social media and social media marketing. I watched maybe 10 minutes of one, and was very impressed with the concept.

Talking Social with Social Media Explorer Jason Falls

Talking Social with Social Media Explorer Jason Falls

His name is commonplace in the world of social media. Guys like Chris Brogan, Guy Kawasaki, and Gary Vaynerchuk have become celebrities in this space. Jason Falls has too. He lives in Kentucky and does a lot of public speaking, but is also an accomplished author. His most recent book has a pretty daring title, and he is quite popular on Twitter. A few weeks ago I was listening to a webinar that he gave to promote his new book, and I noticed a few things he was saying didn’t quite add up. I started tweeting about it, and before long he and I were discussing this in real-time.

The 911 Memorial: Past, Present & Future

The 911 Memorial: Past, Present & Future

I am learning as I go through this thing too. For instance, I had no idea who built the Twin Towers. It was designed by Minoru Yamasaki in the early 1960s. They broke ground on August 5, 1966 with the North Tower being completed in December of 1972 and the South Tower wrapping up in July of 1973. They were the tallest buildings in the world at the time. I also didn’t know about the “bathtub” they had to build when building the two towers. According to the app:

Little Known Facts About RMS Titanic

Little Known Facts About RMS Titanic

I don’t know what it is, but I am obsessed with the Titanic. I obviously wasn’t on the ship… not do I know anyone that was. But over the last few years, I have become obsessed with her story and learning all I can about the ship. That, and the movie was pretty good! I recently had the chance to see it in 3D, and while the 3D didn’t help, the movie looks great on the big screen. It was much better than I remember.

Pin This: Pinterest Updated Terms of Service

There has been a lot of talk about Pinterest, a social network that lets you pin images and videos across the web. I have used it, and haven’t seen a lot of value in it. However, I continue to waste time there and pin things left and right. Try it out… it’s pretty cool. The interface is really clean too. Anyway, the service been in the news lately regarding their terms of use. Basically, if you pin something that is under copyright, you are liable. Not the service. Other popular tools like Facebook and Twitter will take some of the blame and will usually remove that content… but not Pinterest.
