Monument Course: How many steps?

Monument Course: How many steps?

On Saturday I booked a tee time at Troon North Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona. Troon North is my favorite golf course in the Valley, and I consider it my home course. I’m also a big fan of the sliders served at the Dynamite Grille. Those alone make the trip worthwhile. To justify the sliders, and the side of fries I ordered, I decided to walk 18 holes. That got me thinking… How many steps and how many miles is it to walk 18 holes?

I played the Monument Course, my favorite of the two. On Twitter and Google+ I asked how many steps it would take to walk 18 holes. Some people said it would take me 12,500 steps and others 17,500 steps. Brandon Tucker said, when he played the golf course, it was 8.5 miles. No way! I walked a lot of golf courses in high school and college. No way it is that far. Well… It is!

I used my Fitbit to track my steps, which will track steps, miles, etc. It took me 19,460 steps and 8.49 miles to walk the Monument Course. That got me thinking… How many steps is the Pinnacle Course? How many steps is Quintero Golf Club? How many steps is 27 holes at The Phoenician Golf Club? I want to find out! So, what does that mean? Well, first off, that means I am going to start walking when I play and share my results on Twitter. Heck, I might even write a blog post for every round. Next week I am playing Desert Canyon Golf Club in Fountain Hills, Arizona. How many steps do you think that course will be?

Hey, if nothing else, I am staying fit… It will help me justify those sliders and the pints of beer I have after golf!
