Young Bombs were searching for a specific sound on “We Own the Night”, and recruited two powerhouse songwriters: JOKI, an award-winning, multi-platinum producer based in Norway; and Ken Fleetwood from LA by way of Nashville.

JOKI achieved his first #1 single at the age of 20 and boasts production on numerous hit records and #1 singles, including “Bastille” and “XXXTENTACION”. He partnered with singer-songwriter Ken Fleetwood, who provided melodic inspiration and vocals. “We Own the Night” is the result of their collective of musicality and production prowess.

About Young Bombs:
In 2019, Young Bombs made the bold leap from sought-after remixers to artists. That leap remains driven by a personal and creative chemistry forged way back in the Vancouver high school where they became best friends. With nearly 100 million streams in four years, the duo has become one of the biggest artists in the electronic music scene in a short amount of time, attracting the support of luminaries such as Tiësto, Oliver Heldens, and Don Diablo. They have graced the stages of blockbuster festivals such as Lollapalooza, Firefly Music Festival, and the Billboard Hot 100 Festival; supported The Chainsmokers, Galantis, R3HAB, and Adventure Club on tour around the globe; and launched a coveted residency at Drai’s Beachclub in Las Vegas. Now, they have returned with new track “We Own the Night”, and more music still to come.

After listening to this single several times, I did some digging. I found Young Bombs have worked with Aloe Blacc, Audrey Mika, JORDY among others. Their sound is ripe for festival season and their vibe is unmatched. It may be winter here in SoCal, but listen to “We Own the Night” and try not to dance… Such a good song!

When I first heard the single I was fresh off covering Dreamstate SoCal. I was on an EDM high and wanted to learn more. Turns out I am close with their PR team and reached out for an interview. Guys, I am excited for this… I suggest you open Spotify, search Young Bombs, and listen while you read. It is my absolute pleasure to introduce you to Young Bombs. Maybe, if I dare, suggest you read this after the sun goes down!!!

How did you guys meet and how long have you been producing music?
We met playing a punk rock show when we were teens. Martin’s band opened for my (Tristan’s) band and during their final song, Martin lit his drum cymbals on fire. I was enamoured so we exchanged phone numbers and talked all night. We’ve been producing music for about 10 years.

Where did the name come from?
It was the name of a band we started with a friend that lasted one day. We asked if we could keep it for future use and he was ok with it.

Your new single “Key to My Heart” is great. I love the beat. Who is singing on it?
Thank you! Our girl Alida is singing on it.

Any DJs working on a “Key to My Heart” remix? What is the process if someone wants to remix the song?
We will have some remixes coming soon but can’t share any names yet. Lately we’ve been reaching out to producers we admire to do remixes. It’s always cool to hear someone take your song and give it an entire new sound.

The Spirit Halloween GIF went viral. Yours… Hilarious! Your kit includes glasses, puppies… Turtleneck and a dub haircut! Amazing!
Thanks! We used the artwork from our single, “Loyal” as inspiration.

You guys were in Amsterdam a few weeks ago. Did you visit Heineken or just post for photos? LOVE that city, by the way!
We DID visit the Heineken factory. Next time we’re there we want to DJ in the bar downstairs.

You guys are active on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram… TikTok. Who is managing all of that content and where are you coming up with fresh content?
We, along with our management team, handle the content. Some of the ideas we come up with ourselves and some are trends we hop on. Usually if an idea makes us laugh, we try it.

You guys are based in LA. There are some great clubs in the City of Angels. What are some of your favorite places to see a show?
We actually just moved back to Vancouver BUT did live in LA for six months. Academy LA is always a fun time but there are still more clubs we need to check out when we go back.

Where do you find inspiration for a new song? Does it just come to you or do you sit there with pen & paper until a song comes out?
For us, music ideas come from everywhere. One day you can be totally inspired and the next day you’ve got nothing. When the ideas start flowing, we try to make our tracks as fast as we can and catch the inspiration while it’s there.

What can fans expect from a live performance? Based on your social media content, I’m guessing a good time!
You nailed it. If you leave our show bored, we didn’t do our jobs.

Your single “Better Day” features Aloe Blacc. What was your experience like working with him and how did you connect?
Our former A&R at Astralwerks Records played it for his manager when he dropped by the Capitol building and his manager liked it so much, he called Aloe and played it over the phone. Aloe loved it and wanted to cut it immediately. We flew down to LA and got in the studio with him for a few hours so he could lay down the vocals. He was one of the nicest artists we’ve ever worked with.

Who did the artwork for “We Own the Night”?
Helen Rabbitte. She’s incredible at what she does.

What are you listening to when you’re not producing music?
We’re really loving Fred again.. Right now. He’s the man.

Wait… You worked with Hootie? Shut the front door!!! What was that experience like? That song is FIRE, too. The stories I could tell you about him. Tell me more!!!
Darius Rucker was such a nice guy. He cut the vocal to the track over Zoom during the height of the pandemic. We’ve always loved his voice and felt like he’d be the perfect singer for “Wrong Side of Love”. He definitely nailed it.

You’ve worked with several labels including Astralwerks and Sony Music Canada. Are you out there looking for labels or do they come to you?
Sony Music Canada is our current label. We always want to work with a label that has our best interests in mind and the team at Sony has been nothing short of amazing so far.

We’ve talked about a lot today… What else can you tell me about Young Bombs?
We love sushi and if mercury poisoning wasn’t a thing, we’d eat it everyday.

What’s next for Young Bombs?
World domination, baby.

Thank you guys for doing this. That was fun! In all the interviews I do, I always give the artist the last word. Go.
