The driving beats and global influences evoke the excitement of discovering new places and sharing music across continents.
With “Amor Latino,” Lexlay pays homage to the vibrant energy and passion of South America, a place that has left a lasting imprint on his soul. The infectious rhythms and warm grooves capture the essence of that connection. “Resilience” follows, reflecting the challenges of the pandemic, where Lexlay turned uncertainty into an opportunity to grow. The track’s intensity and drive embody the strength and determination that brought him back stronger than ever.
“Best Sunsets” draws inspiration from the magic of La Terrrazza in Barcelona, where Lexlay’s Happy Techno parties come to life under the open sky. The uplifting melodies and euphoric atmosphere evoke the golden hour moments that define these unforgettable events. Finally, “Waiting in the Sun” closes the album on a high note, symbolising the evolution of his associated family Analog bookings into a market leader. It’s a tribute to the artists, the team, and the boundless ambition that fuels their journey forward.

DJ & Producer / Music & Fitness Life
I recently discovered Lexlay and was immediately drawn to his energy and sound. Based in Barcelona, he has spent the last 20 years building a global reputation through his infectious tech house grooves and uplifting performances. He’s the founder of Happy Techno Music and has taken his music to stages around the world, from Ibiza to South America and everywhere in between.
To celebrate two decades in the industry, Lexlay just released his debut album. It’s a personal and powerful collection of tracks that tells the story of his journey. I had the chance to connect with him to talk about the album, his influences, his favorite tour moments, and what’s next. I’m excited to share our conversation with you.
You’re marking 20 years in the music industry with your debut album 20 Years of Music. How does it feel to reach this milestone, and what made now the right time to release your first album?
Honestly, it feels surreal. Twenty years sounds like a lifetime, but it went by so fast. This album felt like the perfect way to celebrate the journey. Everything I’ve lived, learned, and loved through music. It’s my way of saying thanks to all the people, cities, clubs, and moments that shaped me. I had never done a full album before because I always felt my music was meant for the dancefloor. But now, I wanted to tell a bigger story.
When you think back to the beginning of your career, what were some pivotal moments that shaped your journey as a DJ and producer?
Playing my first gigs in Barcelona, especially at City Hall, definitely set the tone. Also, founding Happy Techno was a game-changer. It forced me to grow not only as an artist, but as a professional. Another big one was my first international tour. It opened my mind and made me realize how far music could take me.
Let’s talk about some of the tracks on your debut release. The album opens with “Your Mission,” which seems deeply personal. Can you tell us about the meaning behind that track and how it reflects your entry into the world of electronic music?
“Your Mission” is like an inner voice reminding me why I started all this. It’s that mix of excitement and fear you feel when you’re about to take a leap into the unknown. That’s what it felt like back then, no guarantees, just passion. The track is cinematic, emotional, made for the dancefloor, like an explosion and sets the tone for the whole album.
“Press Play” explores your earliest encounters with electronic music. What initially drew you to the genre, and do you remember the first time you stepped into a club and thought, ‘This is it’?
Oh yes, I’ll never forget it. It was the energy, the freedom, the way people lost themselves in the beat. I remember thinking, “This is where I belong.” I was instantly hooked. Electronic music gave me a voice before I even knew how to speak it.
Your sound blends tech house, deep house, tropical house, and techno, all with a Latin twist. How has your musical style evolved over the years, and how do you approach creating such a unique sonic identity?
I think it comes from being curious and never wanting to copy anyone. I’ve always liked to experiment and bring some warmth and color into my tracks—hence the Latin flavor. Over the years, I’ve just learned to trust my instincts more and more, and now I know exactly what I want a Lexlay track to feel like.
“Late Night” paints a picture of your early hustle. What were those long nights like when you were learning the ropes, and what kept you going through the challenges?
They were tough, man. Lots of trial and error, late nights at the studio, playing tiny gigs for almost nothing. But the love for music kept me going. I believed in the dream even when things weren’t easy. That hunger, that fire it’s something I still carry with me.
“Happy Vibes” is a tribute to building something bigger than yourself. Tell us about the vision behind your label Happy Techno and how it has become a platform for emerging talent.
Happy Techno started as a party and became a family. I wanted to create a space where artists could grow, connect, and have fun doing what they love. Over time, we’ve built a global community. It’s not just about me, it’s about sharing opportunities and good vibes with everyone who’s part of the journey.
“Welcome to the Club” is inspired by your residency at City Hall in Barcelona. What did that chapter mean to you, and how did it help shape your presence on the scene?
City Hall was my playground for many years. It’s where I refined my skills, connected with the crowd, and developed my sound. It gave me the confidence to take my music outside of Barcelona. It will always be a special place for me.
“Live on Tour!” captures the energy of traveling the world. What are some of your most memorable tour moments, and how has performing globally influenced your creative process?
There are so many unforgettable moments… From sunrise sets in Colombia, unforgettable moments in Argentina to packed clubs in Bangkok. Traveling teaches you that music speaks all languages. It’s helped me stay open-minded and curious. Every culture brings something different to the dancefloor, and I try to bring that diversity into the studio.
With “Lovin’ South America” (aka “Amor Latino”), you pay homage to the region’s vibrancy. What is your connection to South America, and how has its culture impacted your music?
I have a deep love for South America. The energy, the warmth, the way people live and dance it’s contagious. Every time I go there, I feel inspired. It’s shaped not just my music, but my outlook on life. That track is a love letter to the whole region.
“Resilience” reflects on the pandemic. How did that period reshape your perspective, both personally and professionally?
It was a moment to pause and reflect. For the first time in years, I had time to think about why I do what I do. I came out of that period more focused, more grateful, and more determined to keep pushing. “Resilience” is about bouncing back, staying strong, and finding light in dark moments.
La Terrrazza in Barcelona and your Happy Techno parties are iconic. How did those events inspire “Best Sunsets,” and what’s your favorite memory under the open sky there?
La Terrrazza is magic. Playing music while the sun sets over Barcelona… It’s hard to describe. “Best Sunsets” was born from those evenings, full of connection, joy, and that unique summer vibe. One of my favorite memories? Seeing a full crowd dancing in total harmony just as the sky turned orange. Pure bliss.
“Waiting in the Sun” feels like a hopeful conclusion. Can you share more about your agency Analog bookings and how it plays into your wider mission in the industry?
Analog bookings is about supporting artists the right way—being close to them, understanding their needs, and growing together. Was an amazing journey, however at this moment I’m not at Analog and I work with Jassi and Victor from Cubbo.
You’ve highlighted “Waiting in the Sun” and “Happy Vibes” as key tracks. Why did you choose these as the album’s focal points, and what do you hope listeners take away from them?
They represent two sides of me: “Happy Vibes” is about community, energy, and movement. “Waiting in the Sun” is more introspective and emotional. I hope people dance, but also feel something deeper. That’s the balance I was aiming for with the whole album.
Your Happy Techno parties have hosted artists like Darius Syrossian, Detlef, Mark Knight, and Deborah De Luca. What does curating these events mean to you, and how do you select who you work with?
It’s all about connection and quality. I choose artists who bring something special, not just musically but on a human level too. Curating these nights is a way of sharing my vision of what a proper party should be: inclusive, exciting, and full of good energy.
You’ve released music on Jamie Jones’ Hot Creations and many others. How have those collaborations helped broaden your sound or audience?
It’s been a huge honor. Working with respected labels challenges you to level up. You get exposed to different audiences, different feedback, and that keeps you evolving. I’m always grateful for those opportunities they help me stay fresh and inspired.
How has the city of Barcelona influenced your identity as an artist, and what makes its scene so vibrant and globally respected?
Barcelona has everything: history, culture, nightlife, diversity. Growing up here definitely shaped my ears and my mindset. The scene here is super creative, open, and connected to the world. It’s a city that breathes music.
Looking back over two decades, what are you most proud of? And how do you want this album to define your legacy in dance music?
I’m proud of staying true to myself and never giving up. There were ups and downs, but I always followed my passion. I hope this album shows that you can evolve, grow, and still keep your essence. If people dance to it and feel inspired, that’s all I can ask for.
The album is positioned to fuel dancefloors all summer long. Where will we be able to catch you live in 2025, and what can fans expect from your tour performances this year?
There’s a lot coming: Latin America, United States, Asia, Europe… The idea is to bring the album to life on stage with a special vibe and a lot of surprises. Expect energy, emotion, and connection. That’s what it’s all about.
What message would you like to share with fans who have supported you over the last 20 years and those just discovering you through this release?
Just… Thank you. Really. Whether you’ve been there from day one or you’re just tuning in thank you for listening, dancing, and believing. This journey wouldn’t mean anything without you.
We’ve covered a lot today. Thanks for being here, man. I’ve really enjoyed this. Is there anything else you’d like to share with me before we wrap up?
Just that I’m more motivated than ever. This album is only the beginning of a new chapter, and I’m excited to keep building, learning, and connecting through music.
In all of the interviews I do, I always give the artist the last word. Go.
Stay true to yourself, keep dancing, and don’t forget to enjoy the ride. See you on the dancefloor!
