Thanks for being here, man. Eager to learn more about you and your music. Could you start by telling me a bit about yourself?

Hey, thanks for the invite! I’m Kenn Colt. Originally from Belgium, I now reside in the city of Valencia, Spain. I’m an international DJ and the proud owner of my own digital marketing agency, FEELS LIKE HOME Media. As you can tell from my profession, music is my passion, and I love sharing it with the world. When I’m not behind the decks or running my business, you can find me exploring different countries, their food, and their culture!

How did you first get into DJing, and what inspired you to pursue it as a career?
I’ve always been deeply passionate about music. Growing up in Belgium, a country known for its vibrant electronic music scene, I was constantly surrounded by incredible sounds and inspiring performances. Watching and listening to artists perform fueled my love for music even more.

One day, I realized that life is too short to spend on things that don’t bring you joy—and for me, that joy is music. So, I decided to take action and pursue my dreams. Now, years later, I’m still here, happier than ever.

“Mueve Ese Booty” is out now. Tell me more about that single and where the idea came from for this track?

“Mueve Ese Booty” was inspired by my love for Spanish/Latin music and the culture. I recently returned from a 3-month tour in Latin America. During that tour, I finished the production of “Chan Chan.” I was greatly inspired by their local music, both classics and contemporary pieces. I also enjoyed watching many street musicians! I infused these experiences into the production of the track.

Ultimately, I want listeners who have never been to LATAM countries to get a glimpse of that experience, and for those who have been, I want to transport them back to that time.”

Are you planning to tour this summer in support of the new single?
I am! I’m preparing a tour for the new tracks that are coming very soon. It will include new places like Nairobi (Kenya), Shanghai (China), and Ibarra (Ecuador), cities and countries that I’ve never been to before, so I’m very excited about that! You guys can check out the full details on my socials.

Where did you take the photo on the cover for “Chan Chan?”
The album cover for “Chan Chan” was taken at Salar de Uyuni in Bolivia! I was there on vacation and fell in love with the place. It’s like walking on clouds.

You have nearly 50 million streams on Spotify. What does that support mean to you as a DJ and are you looking at the numbers or are you just glad fans are listening at home?
Well, the numbers certainly help, not gonna lie. They play a crucial role when I’m promoting or pitching something. Additionally, they serve as both motivation and validation, confirming that people appreciate what I create. Knowing that my audience enjoys my music gives me the drive to keep pushing and producing more. It’s rewarding to see the positive response and engagement.

Tell me more about your artist album BALANCE you released in 2022? There are some really great tracks on that album, man.
Thank you! The album BALANCE means a great deal to me. In a sense, it’s like a journal of my life at that time, capturing my experiences and emotions. I’m incredibly proud of it, and I’m thankful that so many people appreciate it. When I see comments from listeners saying how some of the songs make them happy or help them through tough times, it makes me very happy. After all, that’s the ultimate goal of music: to communicate and connect.

You collaborated with a lot of people on that record. How do you choose who to collaborate with? And would you ever consider collaborating with someone like me that isn’t a DJ, but could help you write your next banger?
The collaborations happen differently for each track, but in the end, it all boils down to the vibe, you know? We need to share the same vision and feel for the track. When we’re aligned, we can create something that we’re both proud of and genuinely happy with. In music, we don’t have to stick to one typical style; I love to be open and let the creativity flow.

Sure! Let’s do it! I’m always open to collaborations.

There are 21 songs on BALANCE. Why so many and how did you decide what order to put these in?
As I mentioned, the album is like a journal of my life at that moment. If you analyze it, you can see a story unfolding, transitioning from one emotion to another. It captures a range of feelings: hope, melancholy, and hopefulness. The entire album is a journey through these emotions, reflecting the process and depth of my experiences during that time.

What do you consider the biggest challenges in the DJing industry today, and how do you navigate them?
Social media is both a gift and a curse. In the past, you could create a buzz simply by being good at what you do, like being a DJ. However, now social media is crucial for success, requiring significant time and effort. When you invest in it, you can see how helpful it is. Although I consider myself a private person, I try my best to be out there and connect with people.

You are a resident at Club Versuz. How often are you in Belgium and how did you go about finding and setting up a residency like that?
Because I live in Valencia, I have a monthly residency at Versuz in Belgium, so I fly back and forth at least once a month. Due to summer festivals like Tomorrowland, Formula 1, and Sunrise Festival, I spend more time in Belgium during the summer months. This year will be the first time I won’t be present the entire summer because of the number of shows outside Belgium, which is amazing as it shows the shift of performing outside Belgium even during the busiest times.

There are a lot of great nightclubs out there. DJ Mag just released their list of the Top 100. What are some of your favorite clubs to play? And have you been to Ibiza? 2 of the top 5 are on the White Island!
My favorite clubs to play at so far are Pacha Ibiza, Shôko Barcelona, Versuz, and many smaller clubs around the world. I have just started discovering clubs in Latin America, which is such a great continent, and I look forward to playing at many more clubs worldwide.

What has been your most memorable performance or gig so far, and why?
I played at Tomorrowland for 9 years and again this year! But nothing beats the first time I performed there. It was really a dream come true for me; playing in front of 40,000 people is crazy.

Did I see you shaking hands with David Guetta? He’s a legend! Tell me more about your experience with No. 1 DJ in the world!
He is such a nice, humble guy. I was the support act for David Guetta twice, and he wished me good luck and asked how I was doing. In the end, we’re all just people, but you can forget that when you meet an all-time legend!

Tell me more about FEELS LIKE HOME Radio.
It’s my long-running radio show since 2016, and it’s completely free. It definitely takes dedication and hard work to keep the radio show running, but as you know, I love music. I’m always on the lookout for new music, so sometimes it doesn’t even feel like work to me. It’s a labor of love. I enjoy it, which is why I’ve been able to maintain it for so long.

It looks like you’re having a blast up there (on stage) and out there (traveling the world). And thank you for sharing that journey with us online. This isn’t really a question, but keep it up. You’re crushing it!
Thank you! I appreciate it.

What headphones are around your neck? And are you using something different in the studio than what you’re using on stage?
I use in-ear monitors, which are custom-made plugs with molds that perfectly fit my ears. Protection has always been a big priority for me, and being able to use them and not play so loudly because of that is very important.

You’ve played a lot of big festivals including Tomorrowland Belgium, Ultra Music Festival South Korea, and Sunburn Festival India. Do you get nervous on stage playing in front of so many people? And god forbid something happens while you are performing!
I always get nervous before starting, especially on big stages like these. But when I start playing, all of that goes away, and I kind of go into the zone and begin to enjoy it. I think every DJ’s worst nightmare is having technical difficulties with their setup. I mean, we’ve seen it happen at Coachella recently!

Can you tell us about any upcoming projects or collaborations you’re excited about?
I have a lot of collaborations coming up. On June 14, I dropped my latest track called “Mueve Ese Booty” with GAVSS and ADDIEL LS, featuring El Palma. Check it out!

What do you enjoy most about being a DJ, and what keeps you passionate about it?
The best thing about being a DJ is the experience of being on stage and witnessing firsthand how my music resonates with people. There’s nothing quite like seeing the crowd’s reactions, feeling their energy, and knowing that my music is creating those moments of joy and connection. It’s incredibly rewarding and serves as a reminder of why I love what I do. I hope to perform more and connect with everyone soon!

What’s next for Kenn Colt?
