GRAMMY®-nominated producer Mild Minds releases his highly anticipated sophomore album GEMINI via Foreign Family Collective. The nine-track follow up to his 2020 debut album MOOD sees Benjamin David exploring the intersection of human emotion and digital progress, reimagining turn-of-the-century club sounds through a contemporary lens.

Where David’s MOOD represented a creative revelation and risk-taking departure from his behind-the-scenes work, GEMINI emerges as a testament to that artistic leap’s rewards. The album weaves breaks, airy pads, and chopped 2000’s R&B samples alongside early trance influences and ethereal vocals, creating an unprecedented dialogue between club-focused elements and melancholic emotions rarely explored in dance music.

GEMINI’s thematic elements of human existence are met with stark contrast by way of audio-visual storytelling that brings on a sense of humanity in dystopia. This theme extends into the album’s visual identity, where stark rooms with transparent digital screens are filled with faded shots of nature—an echo of what once was. The visual campaign’s transparent devices and album name serve as a nod to the early 2000s while speaking to our current reality.

The album opens with previously released single “I NEED U,” a longing exploration that set the tone for GEMINI’s sonic direction with its emotive chord progressions and captivating vocal elements. The title track “GEMINI” follows, showcasing David’s innovative approach to structure – no section repeats, creating a trance-like forward motion through staggered grooves and future garage influences.

“TEARDROPS” serves as a bridge between Mild Minds’ earlier work and new territory, featuring David’s signature vocals and sequenced chord progressions, while “1 DAY 2 LATE” delves into darker territory, exploring themes of missed opportunities and life’s critical moments. “EMPTY SPACE” and “IN YOUR EYES” further develop the album’s emotional landscape, before “DNA ∞” demonstrates the project’s evolution through its marriage of underground dance elements and contemporary production.

The album’s closing chapter includes “STILL THINKIN’ ‘BOUT U” and concludes with “LAST CHANCE,” tracks that epitomize GEMINI’s broader themes of finding humanity within digital spaces. “After years of navigating the pressures of the music industry I was hesitant to step too far into the spotlight,” shares David. “But taking the plunge into my own project—something I was often discouraged from pursuing—has been seriously transformative. Seeing it resonate has been incredibly fulfilling and given me a new found confidence and freedom.”

The tour will see Mild Minds bring his evolving sound to iconic venues including Brooklyn’s Music Hall of Williamsburg, Los Angeles’ El Rey Theatre, two nights at San Francisco’s Bimbo’s 365 Club, before concluding with his UK debut at London’s fabric.
