Way Leads on to Way with Brad Titus

Way Leads on to Way with Brad TitusWhen I started working full-time, I had no idea what to expect. I had never worked a full-time job before, and had a hard time getting used to being up early everyday, in the office for a full eight hours, and coming home just to do it all over again the next day. I have manged to make close friends with several people I work with. One of those guys is Evan Titus. Evan works on our search engine marketing team, and was kind enough to introduce me to his brother. We met, hit it off immediately, and he soon become the editor for rickyleepotts.com. Those days have since come and gone, but Brad Titus and I have stayed good friends ever since. Rather than just tell you about Brad, I thought a Twitter interview was in store. It had been some time since my last Twitter based interview, and Brad is doing quite a bit with his current campaign on the popular social networking site. That being said, it’s time to introduce you to Brad Titus.

(For those of you that do not know how Twitter works, messages that start with @bltitus are messages from me to the individual.  Messages that start with @rickyleepotts are his responses.  I have set a limit to 140 characters for this interview and all questions and answers must fit in 1 single tweet.  All of the messages you see have not been edited and are exactly as I received them.)

@bltitus Hey Brad, how are you this evening? Is this the first time you have been interviewed?

@rickyleepotts this is my first time ever being interviewed when there wasn’t a job or class involved.

@bltitus Hey, that’s alright with me. Speaking of jobs, tell me a little bit more about what you do for a living.

@rickyleepotts I’m an SEO Account Manager for a company called Sequoia Technologies. I started there on the Web Support team about 9 mos ago

@bltitus Are they on Twitter? Thanks for playing by the rules, too. All questions & answers must appear in 1 tweet. What is your degree in?

@rickyleepotts They are: @SequoiaIMS. My degree is in English Writing & Literacy, minor in Political Science. Certified in Technical Writing

@bltitus Technical writing huh? That sounds interesting. What was your favorite class? Where did you graduate from again? I forget!

@rickyleepotts IUPUI, and Tech Writing is fun, but I don’t do it at all now! Favorite classes – Professional Communications & Copy Editing.

@bltitus Good thing I already have an editor for my blog, or I would be recruiting you! So working full time what do you like to do for fun?

@rickyleepotts I love to read – I subscribe to about 80 different blogs that I read, plus books & news mags. Also, writing, TV & music.

@bltitus What is your favorite blog?

@rickyleepotts Favorite blog? Why, RickyLeePotts.com, of course! I really enjoy DaringFireball.net & JesusNeedsNewPR.net. Fav Band – Wilco.

@bltitus When have you EVER seen me capitalize my name? It is ALWAYS rickyleepotts.com. Come on, branding! Best album they have released?

@rickyleepotts best album … that’s tough. Yankee Hotel Foxtrot was the first I ever heard, so that is special. Their live albums are great

@bltitus No excuses. Go the next time they are in town. How old are you right now Brad? Are you happy where you are in life?

@rickyleepotts I will. I’m 28, and I’m pretty happy. Life is taking off. I’m married, and my wife and I are expecting our first child in May

@bltitus That’s awesome man. Planning on staying in the Hoosier state all your life or do you have plans to move west perhaps?

@rickyleepotts I love DC, I love New England, and I love the Pacific Northwest. I’m comfortable here, but not opposed to moving around a bit

@bltitus What does your wife think about that? Where did you guys meet?

@rickyleepotts She doesn’t share my wanderlust; she likes being near family. We actually knew each other as kids & reunited a few years ago.

@bltitus Good that you were not married as kids! What do you want to do with your life sir?

@rickyleepotts Writing is my passion – would love to spend my life sharing thoughts ideas & opinions. The pen has accomplished great things.

@bltitus The pen? You still write? How do you think technology will change this industry in the years to come?

@rickyleepotts It’s metaphorical, but I still use a Moleskine before going digital. Tech opens access & lowers cost. This is good.

@bltitus So admit it. You are an Apple fanboy. I bet you have an iPhone, iPad, MacBook Pro… #apple

@rickyleepotts Ha! I am. I’m not ashamed. I love how well everything just “works” on a Mac. Apple & Google are my favorite 2 companies.

@bltitus That’s my boy. Where do you see yourself in five years?

@rickyleepotts That’s a good question. Hopefully, moving into a consulting position to focus on family, writing, & other hobbies.

@bltitus Very good answer. What do you want to be remembered for when it’s all said and done?

@rickyleepotts Someone who used money & loved people. At the end of the day, all we have are our relationships. That’s your legacy.

@bltitus Another good answer. I am sure you know what’s coming next… I always let the artist get the last word. Why not you? Go.

@rickyleepotts I’ve been expecting this. Why not a classic? “Have your pets spayed and neutered.” Ricky, you’re the best!
