A graduate of Texas A&M with a landscape architecture degree in 1984, Kelly entered the profession of golf course architecture 10 days later. He began his unaccompanied career in 1995 following eleven years partnership with Robert von Hagge. He has designed new courses and renovated existing courses in five countries. Kelly's new work includes
Hideout Golf Club, in Naples, Florida, Laurel Links, on Long Island, Hawk Pointe, in New Jersey, and Four Seasons Golf Club, in Uruguay. His most recent renovation projects include two New Jersey courses: Moorestown Field Club; and a Raynor/Banks course called Rock Spring.
