Rising NYC-based DJ/producer/remixer Serge Devant offers a tease into his forthcoming new Ultra Records artist album with a remix of one of the most iconic tracks in dance music history, The KLF’s 3AM Eternal.
The Kopyright Liberation Front (The KLF) played a vital role in the acid house movement of the late 80′s and 90′s in Britain. Their originality made all their tracks instant international hits with the infamous, genre-defining hit 3AM Eternal hitting #1 on the UK Singles Chart and #5 on Billboard’s Hot 100 both in the USA and abroad. Serge Devant’s remake resurrects 3AM Eternal with his pure elements and energy, while successfully capturing the aura of its time. The track builds intensity through its huge anthem breakdown, which showcases KLF’s vocals and delivers us into pure 80′s bliss with a twist. Even the album art is a throwback to the KLF original!
Released earlier this summer – Serge Devant feat. Taleen 3AM Eternal – debuted at #11 on the UK Buzz Charts and #20 on Music Week’s Cool Cuts Chart. One of the hottest tracks of the festival season, it continues to build momentum and has now made its way to #5 on the Cool Cuts chart for the week ending July 16. It’s been 20 years but 3AM Eternal is back at the top of the charts and Serge’s version is destined to bring this classic sound to a new audience.
The success of 3AM Eternal comes at a busy time for Serge Devant. He’s DJing around the world throughout the summer (including a main stage slot at NYC’s famed Electric Zoo Festival in September), putting the final touches on his sophomore artist album and working on remixes including Erick Morillo’s new record with Rachael Starr entitled “We Are The Night”.
Serge is currently on tour in support of his new artist album and the new single. The official music video for 3AM Eternal is below.
About Serge Devant
Serge Devant developed an insatiable taste for electronic music during the 1990’s explosion that saw acts like The Chemical Brothers, Underworld and The Prodigy; and DJs like Sasha and John Digweed, Paul van Dyk and Carl Cox blow up around the world. As a resident of New York City Serge had the unique opportunity to visit Twilo – the club considered the epicenter of America’s renewed interest in dance music – on a regular basis. It was at this famed club where Serge’s career path became clear…he was going to be the DJ.
Serge’s DJ career began at New York’s legendary Tunnel where he honed his craft and learned how to properly work the room. By 2006 Serge launched his own residency at Crobar and consistently wowed fans with his hallmark high-octane and uplifting sets. Soon thereafter, Serge’s name and brand recognition grew to a point where his name even appeared on his own exclusive Coca-Cola bottle as a part of the company’s Beijing Olympics campaign.
Led by the smash single Addicted, Serge’s first album, “Wanderer”, debuted in June 2009. The track became an instant classic hitting #1 across Europe and received regular airplay from Sirius XM, Kiss FM and Radio 1. While Wandered was a far reaching collection of dance, song based and even chill out tracks, Serge’s forthcoming sophomore album is more dance oriented and pays homage to some of the artists that had a profound influence on shaping him as an artist. The first single to come from the new album, a remake of The KLF’s 3AM Eternal, is already taking the world by storm having become a mainstay in the sets of the worlds most respected DJs.
