Spotify has been great for finding new music. Every week, the most popular new releases are listed under “What’s New”, and that is where I find most of what I listen to. Anyway, one album I recently found was “RevolveЯ” from T-Pain. Yeah, I bet you didn’t know his name was Faheem Rasheed Najm. I didn’t either! Anyway, this album is incredible. The deluxe version has 17 tracks just packed with talent. T-Pain has a ton of it, but he adds the likes of Lil Wayne, Chuckie (yes, the DJ), Pitbull, Lily Allen, Chris Brown, Ne-Yo and E. Kelly. E-40 even makes an appearance on Nuthin’. This album is just one hit after another. My favorite is 5 O’Clock featuring Lily Allen and Wiz Khalifa. (Speaking of Wiz Khalifa, he is incredible live. He’s young and just soaked with energy.)
This album is NOT safe for work. Make sure you listen with headphones. It’s dirty, and they use quite a big of foul language. Rappers don’t know how to sing without swearing, it seems. The album is also quick, just running through tracks in a hurry. The longest song on the album is Drowning Again, a sappy depressing ballad that runs 5:21. The track list is below:
- Bang Bang Pow Pow
- Bottlez
- It’s Not You (It’s Me)
- Default Picture
- 5 O’Clock
- Sho-Time (Pleasure Thang)
- Rock Bottom
- Look At Her Go
- Mix’d Girl
- I Don’t Give A ****
- Drowning Again
- When I Come Home
- Best Love Song
- Turn All The Lights On
- Center Of The Stage
- Regular Girl
- Nuthin’
I don’t listen to rap that often… and I might not have ever heard this album if it were not for Spotify. But I can’t put this one down. There are a couple of songs that mention NUVO, a champagne infused vodka. (One of the tracks even mentions the yellow NUVO. It’s brand new. Speaking of brand new, he also talks about the iPhone 5. I wonder if that song was written before the 4S dropped.) Anyway, NUVO It’s pink, and can be found in any liquor or grocery store. It’s really good, if you haven’t had it. It’s not cheap, but when they talk about bottles of Patron all the time… $25 a bottle isn’t bad.
They also talk about Four Loko, the flavored malt beverages that come in crazy flavors like fruit punch and lemonade. The drink was actually originally sold as an energy drink. These things are loaded with booze, some coming in at 12% ABV. It’s just funny to me that they mention these drinks. Thinking of all that reminds me of my good friend Tyler Burgardt. He told me once, “Lyrics need to last. You can’t write about things that might not be here tomorrow.” NUVO… Four Loco… Twitter are all discussed on this album. I mean, one of the tracks is called Default Picture!
If you get a chance, check it out. Listen expecting to hate it, but be shocked with you fall in love with it.
