Last weekend I was in Tucson for #CodyWedding15. My buddy Spencer invited me, and I just had to be there… I mean, he was getting married on a golf course, after all. That, and I love the showers at Casino Del Sol. It gave me a chance to visit a couple of brewing companies, too, which was nice. We stopped by Dragoon Brewing Company on the way, and had the chance to see Ermanos Craft Beer & Wine Bar. It’s new, and I really like the vibe. We also had dinner at Barrio Brewing Co. with my friend Victoria on Sunday. Anyway, I digress.
On Sunday I got the chance to play Sewailo Golf Club. Spencer paired me with his dad and a few other family members. The round took longer than expected, but it was fine. The company was great, and I was hitting the ball well. I only had one birdie, but made a lot of pars. The focus of the round, however, was the steps and the miles. I was shocked how far it was. It wasn’t a bad walk, really, just far. It ended up being 19,924 for a total of 8.8.
Oh, and they are hosting a U.S. Open qualifier next week. So the course was in great shape, the greens were fast, and the pins were, well… Let’s just say I don’t think I would make the cut!
To date, the Monument Course at Troon North Golf Club was the furthest I had walked. But Sewailo didn’t seem like it was all that far. Until Monday morning, that is. I was sore! Anyway, it was fun walking the golf course and spending some quality time with Spencer’s dad. Also, it was an honor to be a guest at Spencer’s wedding. I am not playing this weekend, but am hiking the Siphon Draw Trail. That is only 4.8 miles. It’s like walking Sewailo twice!
