Artist Interview: 1-on-1 with Sevenn

Artist Interview: 1-on-1 with Sevenn

When Sevenn released “BOOM” in 2017, I was hooked. They worked with Tiësto on this release and have collected over 88 million views on YouTube and nearly 70 million streams on Spotify. A few weeks ago they released another “Lollipop,” another club banger. Sean and Kevin Brauer are originally from Los Angeles, California and produce some festival friendly sounds that will have you bouncing off the ceiling. I was so impressed with their new single, and the success of “BOOM,” I reached out to Kat Bailey for an interview. These guys are affiliated with some of the biggest names in dance music, and it was awesome getting to spend some time with them. It is my pleasure to introduce you to Sevenn.

We are here to talk about your new hit single “Lollipop,” but I think your single “BOOM” with Tiësto is one of best dance tracks I’ve heard in a long time. Tell me more about your experience working with Tijs.
Working with Tiësto was a dream! We really had fun making the track, never knew it would blow up like it did too. He really has a vision for what people all over the world are gonna want to thrive to.

That’s awesome! Let’s focus on “Lollipop” for a second. I love the beat. Tell me more about the single and what you hope to accomplish with this new release.
I play so many festivals, clubs and parties that I wanted to try something that would fit in each of these scenarios. I think the creative process has to be fun and playful and that’s exactly what happened with this track.

I think I know how you are going to answer this… But how did you guys meet and where did the name Sevenn come from?
We’re brothers! The name comes from Sean plus Kevin equals Sevenn. There is no mysticism involved whatsoever.

The single was released on Armada Music. Did you enjoy working with them? Will we see more releases on Armada this year?
The guys from Armada Music are so cool and fun loving it’s been a dream working with them. We have a couple more releases coming this year and hope to have many more!

Las Vegas is the center for dance music in the United States. What are some of your favorite places to see a show in Sin City?
OMNIA is always amazing because of the lights and sound, but I also really enjoy Wet Republic because of the madness. We have some good friends who live in Las Vegas, so they normally take us to the best spots.

By the way, “BYOB” is incredible. I can’t help but turn it up as loud as it will go!
Thanks! The track was a real game changer for us and the house music world. We still play it every single set.

Tell me more about your relationship with Kat Bailey and The Mother Lode.
Kat is a gem. The Mother Lode has been helping us with all kinds of stuff.

Speaking of “BOOM,” you guys played that at Ultra Music Festival. How was that? What are some of your favorite festivals to play?
Tiësto sent us a message on that day askin, “You guys are gonna perform it with me, right?” Never been so excited… Still get sweaty just thinking about it. (Laughs.) My favorite festival has to be Tomorrowland… Playing it last year was an absolute dream. It’s impossible not to smile the entire time you’re there since everyone is so happy.

It looks like you guys have a lot of fun on stage. Where do you get the energy to jump around and keep the crowd going?
Endless supplies of Sugar Free Red Bull and heavy metal before the shows. It’s the crowd that really gets me going. The energy you put out is the energy you get back.

Martin Garrix sits atop the DJ Mag Top 100. You guys aren’t on the list right now, but could be… You’re that good. Share your thoughts on that list and what would being on that list mean to you?
It would (will) be a dream come true! We’re extremely dedicated and are working as hard as we can to be up there with the greatest.

What’s next for Sevenn?
This year is going to be intense. I have so much unreleased music I can’t wait to share with everyone. Can’t wait to have the privilege of performing for all you beautiful people!

Thank you for doing this. In all of the interviews I do, I always give the artist the last word. Go.
Thanks for having us! Hope to talk again soon.
