Born from a desire to create a space for self-inquiry and contemplation the pandemic gave the time and space for Tritonal to share something unique with their fans and the rest of the world. Reverence is inspired by the meditative music of artists like Brian Eno, Nils Frahm and Ólafur Arnalds and the duo’s personal spiritual journeys.
This is the first album Tritonal has ever conceived of and manifested as one unified piece of music, with no breaks between the audio tracks. They decided early on if their computers would be able to handle it, they would write the entire album in one Logic Pro X project. Miraculously, they were able to write an hour of music consisting of over 417 audio tracks in one single project!
Musically speaking, every movement is a harmonic counterpart of the previous movement – as they move around the circle of 5ths while simultaneously automating tempo and meter changes. We believe this presents a meditative musical experience far from the norm. The album will be released split into 14 tracks with no fades or separation, allowing the music to be enjoyed as intended – a seamless body of work.
Alongside the album Tritonal are excited to share the limited edition Reverence album merchandise all sourced and built in various parts of India. Items include a spectacular and intricate mandala (as seen on the cover art of the album) which is made from layers of density board and finished with Beach Wood Teak Wood and Rose Wood – originating in Bangalore South India. They also have a hand carved incense box created from pure Mango Wood and made in Saharanpur, Northern India. Lastly they are offering a beautiful Mala necklace made of genuine Rudraksha seeds sourced in one of the world’s holiest cities in the Himalayas which can be worn and used for mantra meditation reciting a mantra of your choice repeatedly on each of the 108 beads.
Formed in 2008 in Austin, Texas by Chad Cisneros and David Reed, Tritonal is one of the most successful US electronic music duos of the past decade counting more than 1 billion streams. Their discography comprises three artist albums, 100+ originals, and remixes, including six Top 10 hits on Billboard’s Dance Airplay Chart and multiple #1 trance tracks on Beatport. Tritonal has played over 1,000 shows, across 5 continents, selling over 2 million tickets. Some of the most notable festivals around the world include EDC Las Vegas / Orlando / New York, Lollapalooza, ULTRA, Creamfields, and Electric Zoo. They’ve also sold out legendary venues including Fox Theater, Bill Graham Civic Center, Hollywood Palladium, and Terminal 5. Tritonal has over 1.25 million social followers and their weekly Tritonia radio show is broadcasted on 42 stations globally to almost 1 million listeners.
Tritonal’s Chad Cisneros’ explains the genesis of the project:
“I suppose we begin in early March of 2020. We were forced to announce the cancellation of a long-awaited return to the Ultra Music Festival along with every show on our upcoming ‘Long Way Home Tour’, which ended up never leaving home.
Looking back, it’s so funny to think how we thought ‘oh this will be over by early summer and we’ll just reschedule.’ By the middle of summer, like so many of you around the planet, we were grieving. We were grieving the loss of our brothers and sisters, we were grieving the divisiveness of the political climate, we were grieving the loss of the ability to do what we love doing so much – play music.
Fortunately, both Dave and I were surrounded by our loving families and had one another to talk with daily, we had the support of our beautiful wives and children, we had music, and we had our own personal relationships with the Divine. We realized that although this was a crisis on one level, it also presented a huge opportunity. It gave us an opening to reflect, to contemplate, to meditate, to rest deeply, and to ask ourselves some tough personal questions like ‘Who Am I?’ ‘What is our role in the universe?’ ‘What do we mean to the dance community?’ ‘What do we stand for?’ We both instinctively knew that we wanted to grow interpersonally, spiritually, and musically. From this seed of a desire to grow, Reverence was born.
We worked closely with our long-time friend and Professor of Music Production at Edmonds College, Nick Sibicky. Nick brought an entirely different dimension to music than we did – namely orchestral composition. After about 12 months of off and on work, sending files across the country, Reverence was rooted in the deepest parts of our Beingness.”
