I’ve been following this guy for a long time. I first interviewed him 5 years ago and have been following his music ever since. DJ Meetch aka Meetch aka Dimitri Fostinis lives in Los Angeles, and when he dropped this new single, it was the perfect time to reconnect. I went to Facebook and sent him a message directly.

This post helps promote his new single and was a good chance to reconnect with an old friend. In a few weeks I will be headed to LA to see him perform live at AVALON Hollywood, one of my favorite clubs on the West Coast. For the third time, it is my pleasure to introduce you to Meetch.

I’ve been following you for years. It is great to reconnect. How are you, man? It’s good to see you again!
It’s always good to see your blog thrive, Ricky! Things have been great. 8 years ago was our first connection, and now it’s time to erupt! Always good to tune back with you.

Tell me about your new single “See You Dance” out now.
When I was thinking about releasing music again, it brought me back to the fun I had dropping new songs live across the East Coast. I knew that If I started to do this again, each song should be a build-up to something better and better. I’m satisfied with “See You Dance” as it’s a great filler song for a live set and also has an infectious big drop! I couldn’t make the first song back a “banger” if you understand. But boy, do I have some surprises coming up!

“See You Dance” is the first song you’ve released in over 5 years. What have you been doing and why now?
A break is good sometimes, ya know? As my life started to transform here in LA, and I started picking up decently sized shows, I knew that I needed to pair some original, unheard of music with it all! 5 years of calculating a plan and 5 years of looking back on what didn’t work before. So I am coming back in a new way that WILL work. So many people I knew in the past just dropped off and lost their passion for music. But I started in 2011, and I am never going to stop until I finish what I started.

You are based in Los Angeles. There are a lot of great clubs in LA. Where are some of your favorite places to play?
My current favorite spot to play in LA is AVALON Hollywood on Vine St. I’ve started to play there more and more, and the main stage is just legendary! I also like the venue Catch One on W Pico Blvd. I love playing intimate and underground shows a lot in LA too, but these are my personal favorites where I’ve had some of the biggest crowds. I do dream to play at the Academy LA and Exchange LA. Like I said, I am not stopping until I achieve what I’ve always wanted. So I do foresee myself hitting these stages relatively soon. Hopefully by the end of the year! I’m way too excited.

Why did you drop DJ? I like Meetch more, by the way!
Everyone calls me Meetch. Even in the workplace or people I see around other clubs and bars. It just fits better, I think! I couldn’t drop the “DJ” on Spotify though since I went by that when I got my first releases years back. I mean, I am a DJ, so I don’t mind the DJ in front of it either.

I follow you on Instagram. It looks like you’re living your best life! Not really a question. Just fun to watch!
Thanks, Ricky! Well I have spent the years on other things aside from producing tracks. So I got that travel bug outside of me (mostly), and now it’s time to dominate! The music is back!

What is that box on your head? Are you trying to copy deadmau5 or Sickick? And you don’t always wear it… What prompts you to put it on?
My buddy Jimmy and I created this robot idea back in 2013, and that’s really when it all started. I started to create them myself and when we went out to shows, everyone would come and take pictures and share and tag me. It started to build up so much that I knew I needed to keep it going. I was wearing the helmet back 8 years ago, you should remember!!! Not to give any hints, but I have something so beyond amazing in the works… Guess we’ll be due for a follow-up interview in a few months!

What headphones are around your neck? I’m always curious what DJs are using.
I have the Pioneer DJ HDJ-X10. I only bring them out for special occasions. I also have the HDJ-X5 that I still use from time to time. I will always buy Pioneer. They have the best audio quality across all of their equipment and accessories. They look so similar that so many times I’ve grabbed the wrong ones before the set. Oh well!

Who designed the “See You Dance” album cover?
My good friend, Delaney! We have been friends since 4th grade, and I use her for a lot of my fliers and graphics! She also created my simple robot logo which is really making waves. I LOVE animations and variations of the logo on my visuals during my shows. It’s so simple and a great graphic for all accessories. Especially clothes and hats!

I’m coming to see you in LA in a few weeks. What can fans expect from a live performance?
I ALWAYS bring the energy. I think many people can vouch for that. A lot of people can do a good mix on a large stage and make it sound nice. But for me, I make sure to have brand new visuals for every show and unheard of tracks from small labels. A lot of music is very good and just not signed. I do my research and try to find those types of songs for my shows. And of course, I will throw down classic tracks and huge throwbacks, because who can deny a good throwback everyone can sing to! And relating back to my robot head, there should be a SUPER surprise at the show in May!

Are you working on another single, or are you trying to release an EP or LP later this year?
I am working on multiple singles for now. You can expect a few possible large label releases this year. I’m really building up the music releases so when my brand builds up and the shows get larger, I can drop something gigantic like an EP or album. Right now is about making a good steady comeback with a line of singles to test the waters. I’m up for an EP or LP at the end of year or start of 2024!

Thanks for doing this, man. I can’t wait to see you this May. You may remember from our last interview, I always give the artist the last word. Go.
I’m also very excited for you to come out to one of my largest shows. It will be your first time ever seeing me, and no better way to do that than at AVALON Hollywood! It’s been a wild ride, and I’m so excited to start a chain of releases. I’m so confident that my plans are going to work and the shows are about to get larger. I’ve been waiting for a moment like this, and like I said, it’s time to erupt! I may be successful in other ways in life, but now is my time to hone all of the energy into the music. I’m more than grateful for where I’ve gotten to and how far I’ve come. I know it’s going to work. It’s just a matter of time.
