A few weeks ago MR.BLACK released “Flight 303” the debut single from his Tranceformation album landing this summer. After listening to the song 10 times, I did some digging and fell in love with his sound. He is working on a new album, and looking at the photos he’s sharing on Instagram, he’s living his best life.
He’s on the road right now hitting Sunrise, FL, this weekend. From there, he’s headed to Israel and South Korea to jumpstart his summer. Before he hit the road we sat down to rap about the single, his new album, his record label, and what fans can expect from a live performance. This was a fun AND loud conversation and an honor spending time with him. It is my pleasure to introduce you to MR.BLACK.
Your new single is FIRE!!! Tell me more about “Flight 303”. I particularly love the lyrics, who did you work with on the vocals?
Thank you so much! Appreciate it.
The idea came to me on one of my flights when I heard the flight attendant speaking to the passengers through the plane intercom. The vocal is from a good friend of mine, Ella Doron. I called her and asked her to come over, I wrote the script, composed and recorded everything in my studio.
That is your debut single from your new album. Tell me more about Tranceformation and how many more singles can we expect before the album drops and when will the album be released?
I’ll say there are around seven singles from the album that might come out before the album drops. The album itself is going to be released around mid/end of June.
Actually, I’m still thinking on how many tracks are going to be in the final album. It’s a process I’m doing with my management team.
Where did the name MR.BLACK come from? And why isn’t there a space after the period? Inquiring minds need to know!
It’s a funny story. I had a project back then that was called Black & White. My partner on that project was really white and I was (much) more darker. (Laughs.)
That’s where the name MR.BLACK came from. And generally, I really like the color you can say. Its written like that (MR.BLACK) because I like to write it in capital letters and looks better to me with no spaces.
Are you planning a tour this spring/summer?
Of course. There’s a lot of upcoming shows on my schedule. You can check my website for all my upcoming shows this year, and many more to be announced in the future. Big shows in Asia, Europe, North America and more. Catch me on the biggest festivals and clubs around the world. Let’s party!
I bet your shows are loud! What can fans expect from seeing you live?
I am very involved in creating a special experience in my shows. From the creation of my VJ, to lights, to special remixes and edits for each country I’m in, or different clubs and festivals. There’s a LOT of energy in my shows and to each one I bring 1000% of myself.
It seems like every DJ has a podcast. Any plans to produce your own show in the new year?
Actually, I had a podcast back in the day. Maybe I’ll bring it back in the future… Who knows!
You are crushing it with social media content. Living your best life! How do you manage/approach social media as an artist and where are you coming up with ideas for fresh material?
In this day and age every artist needs to be on social media and bring themselves and their persona out there. That’s the way I am contacting my crowd when I’m not on a stage and it’s amazing. I like it a lot and I’m always trying to get better and more interesting to my friends around the world.
“Flight 303” is out now on HYBIT. Tell me more about that record label and your plans with that brand.
It’s already the 2nd year of HYBIT, and after we brought various big and interesting names from the trance genre, it’s time for me to drop my own album. We’re very satisfied with the label growing process and there are big plans for me and my team together with the Revealed Recordings team for the future of HYBIT.
