After the single dropped, I couldn’t stop listening. I didn’t know much about Jake Silva, but wanted to learn more. I dove down a rabbit hole and came up with several questions begging for answers. I wanted to learn more about his time in NYC, what life is like growing up in Portugal, and his work alongside Frankie Sims. I reached out and he was eager for an interview.

I suggest listening to “Every Little Thing” while reading this interview. This was fun to do and it is my pleasure to introduce you to Jake Silva.

I’m digging your new single, man. You teamed up with Frankie Sims on that release. Tell me more about “Every Little Thing” out now on Groove Basement.
“Every Little Thing” is a very groovy tech house track, and it has very catchy vocals! “See In Color” by Wax Motif inspired me.

What inspired the cover art? That design is wild!
The cover art was made by my graphic designer! She’s great, she used other Groove Basement art for reference.

Who wrote the lyrics for that song? And who sang on that track?
The vocalist and lyrics on this track were provided by this guy named Malcolm.

You are from Portugal. I will be in Lusitania this summer. Headed to Porto, actually. On my bucket list to drink port wine in Porto, Portugal! What else should we do while in town?
I am! Portugal is amazing! Without trying to be biased, I think it’s one of the most beautiful countries in Europe. In Porto, you should go to the Palácio da Bolsa and the IMMERSIVUS Gallery!

I follow you on Instagram. It looks like you’ve been living your best life. Not really a question but keep it up. You’re an inspiration, man.
Thank you, man, I appreciate it!

You’re based in NYC right now. A lot of great clubs, and festivals in NYC. What are some of your favorite places to play?
Some of my favorite places to play are LAVO Nightclub, Marquee Nightclub New York, Somewhere Nowhere NYC, and The Palace NYC.

What headphones are you using? Are you using the same in the studio as you are on stage?
I use Sennheiser headphones to DJ, but in the studio, I use Neumann.

Speaking of seeing you live, what can fans expect from a live performance?
Fans can expect to go on an exciting adventure of sound with an extremely energizing set.

This single is out on Groove Basement. What was your experience like working with them? And did they come to you, or did you approach them to release this track?
This is my first release with Groove Basement. They’re an amazing label and I’m blessed to be working with them. I have another one scheduled for April 24th!

Are you planning to release more singles this year, or are you working on a full-length album?
I have a bunch of releases coming out this year. I just released my new track “Back To Me” on Gemstone Records – the house division of Hardwell’s Revealed Recordings. I’m really excited for this one!

It seems like every DJ has a podcast. Have you considered producing a weekly show to promote your music?
I’m considering doing a podcast in the future, but as of right now, I’m focusing mainly on music and producing.

What’s next for Jake Silva? I hope you’re hitting the road this summer. Would be great to reconnect on stage!
This summer I’m hoping for major gigs! Stay tuned to find out which venues around the country I’ll be playing at!

Thanks for doing this, man. That was a blast! In all the interviews I do, I always give the artist the last word. Go.
Thanks for having me, man!
