Callie Reiff, the New York-based DJ, producer, singer, and drummer, debuts her Indie Dance release, “Favors” with a melodic and exhilarating soundscape, and underpinning divine harmonies – the single is out now on Dim Mak. “Favors” is the first release from an exciting forthcoming EP project from Callie.
‘Favors’ is all about realizing you need to let go of control and have fun. Give yourself more love and appreciation. You’ve given your all to a situation or to someone, and no matter what happens you need to now give yourself that love back. The lyrics are super empowering I feel like and I wanted the chorus to just stay stuck in your head. I really hope people can relate to it in any way and feel comfortable in any emotion they want to feel when listening to it!! – Callie
Callie Reiff has been a shining light and emerging artist on Dim Mak since early 2022, and last fall she inked an official deal with Steve Aoki’s famed imprint via a partnership between Callie’s management company Seven20 and Dim Mak, where the label will focus on creative direction and establishing Callie’s artist project, as well as publishing and licensing, while Callie Reiff’s team focuses on her live shows along with apparel concepts.
Callie Reiff brings a unique and unmissable force to dance music. After bursting onto the scene at the young and impressive age of 15 as Webster Halls’ youngest DJ, she has now been called on to open for acts like Sofi Tukker, she recently played alongside Tiësto in Cancun for his The Trip festival, supported Steve Aoki at the Brooklyn Mirage and much more. Callie’s drive and output is unmatched – as 2023 sees the artist supporting Steve Aoki’s “HiROQUEST: Genesis” Tour in San Francisco, Boston, and her home city New York.

Until she released “Favors” I wasn’t familiar with her work. But her connection with Dim Mak, and the sound of this new hit single grabbed my attention. I did some digging and was shocked by her age. She has a bright future ahead of her and I can’t wait to see what she does next. This is the first song of hers I’ve heard but know there is plenty more where that comes from.
To learn more about her and her plans I reached out for an interview. She was eager to sit down, and it was fun diving in. Turn on “Favors” and enjoy this conversation. It is my pleasure to introduce you to Callie Reiff.
“Favors” is the latest single from your forthcoming Dim Mak EP. Are you planning to release any more singles and when is the EP dropping?
Yes!!! A few more singles and we don’t have a set date yet but in the next few months. I’m soooo excited.
Tell me more about that single. The lyrics are amazing!
Ahhh thank you very much, I am a big fan of the lyrics too. This one came together fast, it’s all in the pre chorus for me. It’s so catchy and makes you just want to sing it loud (I hope!) I tried to keep that club big stadium energy for the drops and whenever I play it out it feels so right. I wanted it to have a feel-good vibe to it but also a badass encouraging vibe as well. The drop was the first thing that came together with those melodic plucks and repetitive bass, I loved it so much and then built around that.
You are based in New York. What are some of your favorite places to see a show in NYC?
Webster Hall for nostalgic reasons and Brooklyn Mirage is probably the best venue we have or will ever have, it’s insane and the team there I love. Elsewhere also is such a great one for DJ sets or in the summer the rooftop is awesome. Then some of the best shows are random warehouses in Brooklyn or small clubs on the Lower East Side.
You are the youngest DJ to perform at Webster Hall. That’s awesome! How did you line that up and were you nervous?
THANK U! It’s a really funny and lucky story. After practicing DJing and learning on vinyl at age 12, around 15 years old I went to my first EDM show Madeon’s early show for under 21, and it was at Webster Hall. I went with my DJ teacher JP and as you can imagine my mind was blown. I decided right then I needed to play there. When I got home that night, I Facebook requested the promoter of Webster Hall at the time, his name is Alex. I messaged him and pretty sure word for word I said, “Hi I would love to DJ Webster Hall.” Strong starter… (Laughs.) I convinced him to come to JP’s DJ studio to go B2B with me and see what he thought of my DJing. He came and instantly realized I was very young and told me you can’t play Webster Hall until you are of age or a headliner. After he heard me DJ, he seemed impressed, but I wasn’t sure. Cut to a week later he called me and said he wants me to play, bring my parents, Xs on my hands and I’m opening for Mija for the official Electric Zoo after party. And from then on, I got to play almost every weekend and I have some of the best memories of my life there and call it my music school education.
What is your songwriting process like? For example, your new single. How long did it take you to write those lyrics and are you using a laptop, an iPad… A yellow pad!
Mostly I work with the singers, and we talk about life and a main theme or sentence/message we are trying to get across. Sometimes a singer I’ll work with has a full idea ready to go which is a topline and I’ll take that vocal stem and just build a whole track around it!! Working alone I am taking out my notes app and just writing down random ideas and singing along to an instrumental idea, messing around till something sticks.
How did you connect with Dim Mak? That’s a big label!
I ended up playing a show with Steve Aoki at Brooklyn Mirage and a few people from Dim Mak were there. After my set they approached me and wanted to work together. I think the label’s fanbase is exactly the people I want to be in front of and Steve’s crowd is the best. It felt so natural and the correct move to decide to work together. Everyone at Dim Mak understands the project, uplifts my work, and pushes me to be better, it also feels like I am hanging out with my friends when I am there and it’s super exciting!
What can fans expect from a live performance and are you planning a tour this spring/summer?
Energy, energy, energy. My goal is for you to never check the time on your phone and wonder why I am leaving so fast because it felt like 5 minutes. I also just want people to have fun and I love drumming to my tracks. I also give out my drumsticks signed at the end of each show which is fun. I am planning on a good number of shows, soon will have more details! Keep an eye out.
Tell me about your work with Seven20.
Seven20 has been with me since day 1. Dean and Jessica are basically my second parents, they believed in me before anyone really did. And shoutout Matt, I love you. He has one of the best ears in the biz and great taste in food. (Laughs.) Right away it felt super special to work with them because they gave me so much time to work on my project and to not rush anything. Their guidance has been key. They’ve helped me in every way possible and I am truly very lucky to have them by my side. The next few years should be really exciting together as partners!
You played alongside Tiësto in Cancun for his The Trip music festival. Tijs is such a good dude. He’s amazing live, too. Tell me more about that and did you get nervous sharing the stage with a legend?
That was an epic time!! Tiësto really is a legend, one of the first DJs I ever heard about when I first got into DJing around 2012. To this day he keeps getting bigger. I feel like I always get nervous right before but once I’m on stage and vibing with the crowd it’s the best feeling in the world no matter how cheesy that sounds! He brings the energy, so I felt inspired to do my best and I had a great time. His show is so great, and you can just tell how professional he is, super inspiring to watch. Hopefully I play more shows with him in the future!
You are crushing it on social media. Who is managing all that content and where do you come up with ideas for new material?
Thank u!! It all just comes down to what I feel like posting in the moment mostly. I really just like to share what’s going on weekly in my life with some random recaps, drum covers, teasing new music/new releases, and show as much live content/music content as I can and engage with everyone! The best part for me is definitely speaking to people in my DMs when they come to a show or something, they don’t realize how encouraging and amazing that feels for me. It means so much.
What’s next for Callie? Hoping for a new single… Or the EP!
You will be getting both those things! A few more singles, then the EP, hoping for some headline shows or just more shows in general. Some merch… All that good stuff!!
What else can you tell me about Callie?
I recently discovered I love flat white coffees instead of lattes. I love London. I am obsessed with babies. I have my driver’s license (rare for a city kid) I order a side of olives at every bar. I wear Dr. Martens® every day. I love going to the movies, literally to see any movie and my grandma is the prettiest woman on the planet.
Thanks for doing this. That was fun! In all the interviews I do, I always give the artist the last word. Go.
I’ll use the space just to say thanks to anyone who listens to my music and supports me!! Shoutout to my team, my family, and friends. I have so much gratitude. Thank u thank u and thank u for having me!!!
