When Sheryl and I first heard about Expedition EDM Festival in Indio, California, we were intrigued. Then the lineup dropped, and honestly, we hadn’t heard of a single artist. But with the Riverside County Fairgrounds practically in our backyard and no plans on the calendar, we figured, why not? So we booked it.
What started as simple curiosity quickly turned into something much bigger. I reached out to the team at Quantum EDM to learn more about the festival, and one phone conversation later, Sheryl and I found ourselves officially covering the event. Wanting to dive in headfirst, I immediately contacted the first DJ on the lineup, Confetti The First. After a quick interview, I was hooked. There was an energy, passion, and authenticity that made it clear this festival was about more than just music. It was about community and giving rising artists a platform.
We originally planned to conduct interviews during the festival itself, but between scheduling conflicts and the nonstop wall of sound coming from every direction, that plan quickly changed. Still, throughout the day I found myself meeting artists, making connections, and setting up interviews for later conversations away from the chaos of the stages. That’s exactly what Santurz B and I decided to do.
And honestly, that’s what made the experience so special.
Expedition EDM Festival was a blast, and kudos to Quantum EDM for bringing together so many different sounds while shining a spotlight on emerging talent. It was a trip being out there, meeting incredibly talented DJs face-to-face, and having the opportunity to feature several of them here on my blog.
After a great conversation and an absolutely banger set, it’s my pleasure to introduce you to Santurz B.
Bringing the dopest Trance Music of the world directly to you
Santurz B, it was nice chatting with you before your set at the Expedition EDM Festival in Indio, California. Now that the weekend is behind us, how would you describe the overall experience, and what stood out most to you about performing for the trance community there?
Overall, I had a wonderful time. I was genuinely surprised by how engaged the audience was during my set. They even recognized all my tracks, including my latest release, “Terra!” It was an incredible experience.
The Expedition EDM Festival brought together so many talented artists this year. After watching some of the other sets, were there any performances that really impressed or inspired you creatively?
It was very interesting to see how every artist had their own style; I liked them all!
Your sound carries that emotional melodic European trance influence so well. Looking back now, what was it about trance music that first connected with you emotionally and ultimately pushed you toward producing and DJing?
I grew up influenced by artists like Tiësto, Safri Duo, Enigma, Armin van Buuren, GMS, and Infected Mushroom. Their sounds resonated with me, so I knew I wanted more.
When I went to Amsterdam and enjoyed ADE, I realized this was it. I found my sound, and since then, I stuck to it.
The trance scene continues to evolve every year. Which DJs or producers are you personally listening to right now, and who still inspires your approach to music and storytelling?
I am very happy that trance is growing more and more popular in this area. I have been following the scene since its pioneers, like Armin van Buuren with A State Of Trance and Tiësto with CLUBLIFE. Now, I’m listening to shows like PRISMATIC, Ferry Corsten’s RESONATION Radio, and most recently Laura van Dam’s Capture Radio.
It feels like almost every DJ has launched a podcast lately. What makes your podcast different from the rest, and where can fans tune in and keep up with new episodes?
TRANCE 4 LIFE features tracks that make me feel something. I don’t get paid to play tracks, so what you will hear is a pure, curated list of music carefully selected by Santurz B.

What headphones were around your neck during the set, and do you use the same setup in the studio or switch things up depending on the environment?
Yes, these are the same headphones I use in the studio. They are high-resolution headphones, Philips Fidelio X3 Professional Studio, which capture every detail clearly.
You’re based in Los Angeles, which is one of the best nightlife cities anywhere. When you actually get a rare night off, where do you like going to catch a show or just enjoy music as a fan?
In Hollywood, the EDM scene is very strong. Clubs like AVALON Hollywood, Exchange LA, Academy of Music, and Zouk Los Angeles usually attract great talent. Costa Mesa’s Time Nightclub is a great place as well, but I am not a fan of how that venue is set up. In San Diego, you have NOVA SD and Spin Nightclub, just to name a few places that I like.
One of the coolest things about the Expedition EDM Festival was seeing so much rising talent on the lineup. Were there any artists you were especially excited to see perform?
All of them were great, but I think enjoying a live show is completely different. So, I was truly curious to hear their track selection and transition skills in person.
How did your relationship with Quantum EDM first come together, and what has it been like growing alongside the brand and festival as both continue gaining momentum?
I discovered the festival recently when I saw they were looking for DJs. I started digging deeper into what they do, and it resonated with me, so I really wanted to be part of it. The entire Quantum EDM team is super cool, and they treat me like family.
Your visual branding really stands out, especially your logo. Who designed it, and how many different concepts did you go through before landing on the final version fans recognize today?
I handled all the branding myself, from my logo to the color of my hat and the merchandise available at store.santurz.com, which was also designed by me. The logo and DJ name went through a few changes over the last few years until Santurz B became the final choice.
A lot of people only see the finished product on stage, but trance sets require a ton of emotional pacing and preparation. When building a festival set like the one you played this weekend, what goes into creating that journey from beginning to end?
That is 100% true. Trance music requires very fine-tuned details to deliver the best experience. For me, everything starts with the first track, the one that introduces my set. The key and tempo chosen there are critical because they set the harmonic progression for the rest of the mix. In this case, I chose A Major for my first track and progressed through the scale, creating an ascending dance journey.
For people who discovered Santurz B for the very first time at the Expedition EDM Festival, what do you hope they walked away feeling after your performance?
Positive, inspired, and happy.
