I am on vacation right now, and decided to play some golf while I was off. Too bad the weather has been bad… Cloudy and cold and not ideal for playing golf. But that didn’t stop me. I grabbed my buddy Matt and we played Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club, Quintero Golf Club and Golf Club of Estrella. I’ve been playing pretty good, which is nice, and wanted an excuse to play golf during the week.
We played Ak-Chin Southern Dunes on Saturday, and on a course that I rarely break 80 on, I shot 78. I was pleased with my performance, and sans a couple of bogeys, I enjoyed the day. David Keller and Devin Lowe joined us, and we had a blast. On Monday we played Quintero, one of my favorite courses in the state. Just an awesome experience from start to finish. The course is always in great shape. We played with a couple of staff members, while I shot 81, it didn’t matter. The course is just amazing. On Tuesday we played Golf Club of Estrella. I just love the layout, and I shot 75… So there’s that! Oh, and I made a bogey on 18. But more importantly, I walked in an effort to count my steps.
So how many steps/miles was it to walk Golf Club of Estrella? We started on the back nine, and it was 7,887 steps and 3.52 miles. Not bad. We played the back nine with some locals that play the golf course quite a bit, and it was a nice way to start the day. We played the front just the two of us, and the front nine was 7,871 steps and 3.53 miles. That means it took me 15,758 steps and 7.05 miles to walk Golf Club of Estrella.
It wasn’t a bad walk, and, as always, I feel I play better when I walk. That, and it’s TroonFIT! The next time you play golf I challenge you to walk. Especially when you play a golf course like Golf Club of Estrella. I haven’t walked Quintero… Yet. Maybe I will play there again soon and try walking the course. Wish me luck!
