Producer/DJ/distinctive vocalist Marion Di Napoli (formerly known as underground artist La Kajofol) releases her debut solo EP 3-tracker Fade Away on Charlotte de Witte’s RPM (by KNTXT) label, out now.
Marion’s 2024 feature EP with de Witte, “Sanctum,” for which she provided original vocal samples, established her own unique blend of techno with emotional lyricism (aka Mystical Techno) as welcome at the top techno events (ADE, Dour Festival, Insane Festival, Boomtown Fair, Fusion Festival, Monegros Festival…) Her swift success comes from meticulous production skills, and processing her own enchanting voice to weave a textural interplay.
Says Charlotte, “I’m incredibly excited to welcome Marion Di Napoli back to KNTXT, this time with three original tracks that truly showcase her unique sound. After having her as a featuring artist on ‘Sanctum,’ ‘Fourth Dimension,’ and ‘Fugato,’ it’s amazing to see her take center stage with this release. Marion is an incredibly talented producer and a multifaceted DJ, and I’m proud to support her on this journey.”
Between lyrics sung by her entrancing voice and hypnotic melancholy, a dark atmosphere reigns, supported by heavy, powerful kicks. Of her intentions, Di Napoli explains: “This was a blank canvas to fill with my emotions, to allow myself to disappear, fade away into a world where only emotions rule, in order to truly exist – a form of transitional catharsis. Each track tells a story filled with both shadow and light.”
“Fade Away,” the title track’s fast techno percussion is highlighted by chopped choral riffs, while Marion’s clear, rich voice soars over melodic synth, giving a positive, upbeat feel, as befits the ‘groove combined with lyricism’ of her mystical techno. “Let Go” is more stripped back, without sung lyrics. After a long, cinematic vocal break, the drop brings a clean, minimalist yet powerful kickbass, punctuated by airy vocal chops. “An invitation to dive deep into my world, where you have to ‘let go’.” “Elixir,” an ‘outro’ fragment of her musical inspirations – orchestral drumming, animalistic vocalisations, ominous hoover reverb swoops, then her lone voice, haunting and clear. “Like the final chapter of a book where you slowly ease back into reality.”

I’ve had my eyes on Marion Di Napoli ever since she appeared on Charlotte de Witte’s Sanctum EP. Her sound is fresh, emotional, and powered by a passion you can feel in every beat. She recently dropped her debut solo release on Charlotte’s KNTXT label. The three-track EP, Fade Away, is packed with energy and showcases her range as a producer, songwriter, and vocalist. This is more than a release. It’s a statement.
In this exclusive interview, Marion opens up about her journey from performing as La Kajofol to embracing her real name. She also shares insight into her connection with Charlotte and how Fade Away came to life. Whether you’re new to her music or have been following her for years, you’ll enjoy getting to know the artist behind the sound.
Let’s meet Marion Di Napoli.
Your debut solo EP, Fade Away, just dropped on Charlotte de Witte’s RPM imprint. This is a defining moment in your evolution as Marion Di Napoli. What inspired the emotional landscape of this three-track release, and how did you approach blending your voice into the textures of each song?
Yes, this is my first solo release under MARION DI NAPOLI, and it represents the perfect balance between the music I used to create and where I want to go next. My sound will keep evolving, project by project, because my productions are always a reflection of my present emotions, constantly shifting with time. I spent a long time on this EP; a whole new creative landscape had opened up to me. I wanted it to feel melancholic, lyrical, yet powerful. I’m deeply inspired by sacred, choral voices, and that influence runs through the entire project. It also echoes a moment of transition in both my personal and professional life, a state between heaviness and lightness, full of melancholy, but also full of hope.
You’ve described your sound as mystical techno. For someone hearing that term for the first time, how would you explain the balance between hard-hitting beats and lyrical vulnerability that defines your music?
When I started producing in 2019, I quickly felt the need to name what I was creating, because my sound didn’t quite fit into any specific genre. I never set out to invent a style, but ‘Mystical Techno’ came naturally, it reflected the hypnotic, atmospheric quality of my music, often shaped by mystical moods and slightly Eastern chord progressions or choral vibes. That essence is still there today, but now my voice has taken a central role, it’s no longer in the background. For someone hearing the term for the first time, I’d describe Mystical Techno as a balance between music that moves your body and music that transports your mind, rhythmic, yet deeply enchanting.
Charlotte has been a big part of your journey, from featuring your vocals on “Sanctum” to now releasing your solo EP on RPM. How did your creative relationship with her begin, and how has it helped shape your path?
Yes, it’s definitely a moment I’ll never forget. I still remember the day Charlotte first messaged me on Instagram, I was on a road trip in Vendée, in my van, when her DM popped up. At first, I thought it was spam! At the time, I was still performing under ‘La Kajofol,’ a very underground project, seemingly far from Charlotte’s techno world. But she said she was drawn to the energy of my music, especially how I used my voice, and asked if I’d be interested in releasing an EP on her label, KNTXT. That was in 2023, and from there, so many things unfolded, including our collaboration on “Sanctum.”
We finally met in person at ADE last year, when I played her KNTXT night in Amsterdam. We connected immediately, she and her team are such warm, grounded people. Beyond the professional side, I genuinely appreciate her as a person. We share similar values, and that makes our creative bond even more meaningful.
“Fade Away,” the title track, feels both euphoric and introspective. When you were producing it, did you set out to create something that walks the line between light and shadow, or did that duality emerge naturally?
It’s something that lives within me, it’s also what defines what I call Mystical Techno. A dance between light and shadow, softness and power, heaven and hell. For me, everything is about balance. I believe there’s a bit of darkness and light in absolutely everything. It creates a mystical, intangible world, one that lifts you beyond reality, while keeping you grounded in it.
“Let Go” stands out as a stripped-back journey with no full lyrics, yet it still feels deeply emotional. What was your intention with that track, and how do you use space and silence to evoke feeling?
Thank you so much for your kind words, it means a lot that you felt the emotion I put into these tracks. With this piece, which I envisioned as a continuation of the opening track “Fade Away,” I wanted something equally emotional but much lighter. No lyrics, quite minimalist, yet still filled with melancholy. I see this EP as a journey, where each track slowly guides you back to reality. “Let Go” is the second chapter of that journey, hence the name.
I love when a track is minimalistic in its structure. Instead of layering multiple sounds, I prefer when the elements converse with each other, responding back and forth like a dialogue, each one perfectly placed at the right moment. A question-and-answer game. That’s how I use space and time in my production.
The final track “Elixir” has been called the outro of the EP, a slow descent back into reality. Was this always meant to be the closing chapter, and what emotions were you channeling when you created it?
Yes, I always envisioned it as the outro, a gentle descent back to reality. I also wanted to indulge myself by revealing another side of my musical world: the cinematic. I’m deeply inspired and drawn to film music, and I felt this EP needed to close with a track that carries that cinematic spirit. It’s also an intimate way for me to share a part of myself, to unveil a new layer of my universe…
You previously performed under the name La Kajofol. What led to the transition to Marion Di Napoli, and how does this new identity reflect your growth as an artist and a storyteller?
I decided to shift to my real name because I felt the need to fully embrace my artistic journey through my true identity. La Kajofol was an alias, my beginning. But once I realized that music production would always be part of my life, it felt natural to turn the page. Musically, it’s not a rupture, but an evolution. Fade Away marks the first chapter under Marion Di Napoli, but there’s much more to come. I no longer want to filter myself, I want to explore freely, move between styles, and fully embody my artistic voice. The one constant will always be… My voice. I already have four new tracks lined up for release in the fall, and I can’t wait to share them!
You’ve already taken your sound to major festivals like ADE, Dour, and Boomtown. How do you preserve the emotional depth of your studio work when performing live for massive crowds?
In my sets, I try to balance energy moments and full emotional parts. I play about 80% of my own productions – released tracks, unreleased ones, and a few remixes – so I have the freedom to shape the vibe from start to finish. I like to create contrasts: moments of high energy, groovy sections, followed by lyrical breaks that dive into bouncy kick-bass drops. For me, it’s always about balance: guiding the crowd through a journey where intensity and emotion ebb and flow.
With Fade Away now released and a clear artistic vision in place, what does the next chapter look like for you creatively? Are there other collaborations or directions you’re excited to explore?
As I mentioned earlier, Fade Away is just the opening chapter, not the creative destination. Releasing on a label like KNTXT meant understanding and embracing its sonic language, which I did with intention. But I don’t want to stay confined to any one style. Fade Away was crafted with KNTXT in mind. What’s coming next will be released independently or on my own label, giving me full freedom to explore new creative directions. Some collaborations are already in motion… And a few solo tracks are ready too. Stay tuned…
