Goslings Rum: Three Delicious Recipes To Try.

Goslings Rum: Three Delicious Recipes To Try.

Earlier this year I was invited to play in a golf tournament in Bermuda. My good friend Paul Adams is the Director of Golf at Turtle Hill Golf Club, and they host the Grey Goose World Par 3 Championship. I packed my bags, grabbed my sticks and headed to the airport.

While on the island I stayed at the Fairmont Southampton. The golf course is there, and it was a convenient place for me to stay during the event. We had some bad weather, but nevertheless I got in a few rounds of golf and managed to finish T-12 in the tournament.

Bermuda is a gorgeous place. They are known for their white sand beaches, their crystal clear water and their rum! That’s right, their rum! More specifically, Goslings Rum.

Goslings is famous for the Dark ‘n Stormy. As a matter of fact, that cocktail is actually a registered trademark. The cocktail is simple and includes 2 ounces of Black Seal Rum and 6 ounces of ginger beer. Grab a tall glass and fill it with ice. Then pour in 6 ounces of ginger beer and pour 2 ounces of rum on top. The rum sits on top of the ginger beer and creates a visually appealing cocktail. Lime is optional and according to Goslings, “Enjoyment Mandatory.”

There are some other cocktails you can use Goslings in, including Bermuda Rum Swizzle and South Shore.

Bermuda Rum Swizzle
Add 1 ounce of Goslings Black Seal, 1 ounce of Goslings Gold Seal, 2 ounces pineapple juice, 2 ounces of orange juice, a splash of grenadine and a dash of bitters. Shake over ice and strain into an ice filled double old fashioned martini glass.

South Shore
Put 2 ounces Goslings Gold Seal Rum, a few sprigs of mint and ice into a shaker. Shake and double strain into a Collins glass filled with fresh ice. Top with 2 ounces of lemonade and 2 ounces of ginger beer. Garnish with a fresh mint sprig.

Goslings also makes ginger beer, which is delicious. When drinking Goslings rum, it makes sense to mix it with Goslings ginger beer! (I drink the diet ginger beer… You know, to save calories!)

When I landed in Bermuda, Paul picked me up at the airport and we stopped by The Swizzle Inn for a drink. They are famous for their Rum Swizzle, and it was delicious! A few days later I joined Christopher Morris and some others there for a few pitchers of Rum Swizzle. Haven’t had one since…. Not sure I could drink anywhere else!

If you haven’t had any of these cocktails, I would encourage you to grab a bottle of rum and try experimenting. On the way home I grabbed 2 bottles of the rum at duty free. Rum really is cheaper in Bermuda!

Please, drink responsibly.
