La Fleur Announces “Aphelion” EP On Power Plant Records

The stunning two-track release is the first since 2017 on her imprint for the revered artist

After a 17 month break from releasing music on her label, Swedish DJ/producer La Fleur is pleased to announce the release of her Aphelion EP out on her Power Plant Records on March 15, 2019. Beginning the year with conviction, the outstanding two-track release has been over a year in the making and showcases her love of tough melodic techno, house and deep grooves. Armed with new music, the talented Berlin-based producer gears up to make her Ultra Music Festival debut on RESISTANCE Island on Saturday, March 30, 2019 in what is sure to be one of her most anticipated North American appearances to date.

Launching Power Plant Records in 2010 as a passion project, the label has been a chance for La Fleur to explore her artistic passions, free from any creative constraints. Now after a brief hiatus from releasing on her imprint, La Fleur is buoyed by the plans set for the label in 2019. Refusing to put any deadline to her creative process, the Aphelion EP began to take form towards the end of 2017.

“I wanted to take a step back and really think about what I wanted to do with the label and allow the project to take shape naturally, so it took some time,” says La Fleur.

The stirring “Hunting Grounds” was birthed first, a brilliant masterclass of groove-drenched dynamics brimming with personality and spirit, characterized by vocoded vox stabs and a powerful synth line, which was a sure highlight in her sets for Cercle and last year’s Essential Mix. Always one to conjure a visual aesthetic to match her musical expression, La Fleur wanted to create an atmosphere of being in the wilderness while evoking a sense of open space.

As the second track on the release, the foundations of the title track Aphelion are built on deftly crafted drums, before the Swede’s distinct flair for melody sees sublime chords fill the space.

Aphelion is the point in the orbit when the planet is the farthest from the sun, so I wanted to give this an otherworldly vibe with the chords and the melody loop,” she says.

Maintaining her connection with her Nordic roots, La Fleur secured the talents of respected Swedish-French designer David Karcenti to create the cover for her latest EP, Aphelion, after the artist first worked with Power Plant during its conception, designing the original logo. His beautiful sleek design grounded with nature makes a perfect accompaniment to La Fleur’s original work.

A previous resident at renowned Berlin nightclub Watergate, La Fleur was named a Mixmag Breakthrough Artist of 2017. Over the last few years, her meteoric rise has seen her music chartered on some of underground dance music’s finest labels including Knee Deep In Sound, Last Night On Earth and soon-to-be on Damian Lazarus’ Crosstown Rebels. She’s also had tracks remixed by some of America’s finest producers including Kenny Larkin and Carl Craig and she was even invited to remix house legend Kerri Chandler in 2014. Following a stellar 2018 which saw her collaborate with Sasha on their “Forbindelse” track out on his much revered label Last Night On Earth, La Fleur also made her acclaimed Essential Mix debut as well as her first ever Cercle set where she played in the unique venue L’aérosol in Paris – a since shuttered temple for street art. Having previously played Adam Beyer’s Drumcode Festival, La Fleur has also graced the decks at Morocco’s Oasis Festival, Melt Festival, The Warehouse Project, and will also play at this year’s editions of Sonus Festival and Creamfields UK at the All Gone Pete Tong stage. Soon to make her debut at Ultra Music Festival on Resistance Island on March 30, the Swedish talent is without a doubt hitting her stride as one of house and techno’s most exciting artists to watch.

La Fleur’s Aphelion EP is out now on vinyl and digital release on March 15, 2019 on Power Plant Records and is available for pre-order via Beatport.
